I am standing at the edge of an unfamiliar world, my senses flooding by the soft glow around me. The horizon stretches endlessly, a warm light that feels comforting and surreal at the same time. I try to look around but I notice something's strange— can’t see my feet, or anything beneath me. It’s like I am floating in midair. But there’s no panic, no sense of fear. Only a deep, soothing calm.

A familiar voice breaks the stillness. "Jane?"

I turns and sees him. Alex. He stands just a few feet away, his figure bathed in the same warm glow. He looks just as I remembers, his smile full of warmth and life. For a second, my breath catches in her throat. I want to run to him, but my legs feel heavy, like I am stuck in place. Still, his presence is enough to fill me with joy. He’s here. He’s real. Everything that’s happened must have been a mistake, or a nightmare.

"Alex!" my voice trembles, the disbelief obvious. "How… how are you here?"

He steps closer, his movements smooth and effortless, like he’s gliding through the air. "I never left, Jane." He stops just inches from me, his hand reaching out to gently cup my face. The touch is warm, grounding. "I’ve always been here with you."

Jane’s eyes well up with tears. "But… I don’t understand. I thought—"

"Shh," Alex whispers, brushing her tears away with his thumb. "I’m here now. That’s all what matters.

We stand in silence for a moment, the world around us seems impossibly still. My heart swells with hope, but at the back of my mind, doubt nags at me. Something about this place feels too perfect. Too unreal.

"Where are we?" I finally asks, glancing around at the endless horizon. The sky above them is a perfect gradient of colors—golden hues melting into soft blues and purples. It looks like a dream.

Alex takes my hand, leading me forward. "I want to show you something. Come with me."

We walk side by side, and with each step, the world around them begins to shift. The sky darkens slightly, the stars above twinkling brighter than I have ever seen. The ground beneath our feet, though invisible, feels solid now, like I am walking on air. As we move, the landscape transforms—rolling hills of green grass appear beneath our feet, fields of vibrant flowers stretching out as far as the eye can see.

I marvels at the sight. "This place... it’s beautiful."

Alex smiles, squeezing my hand. "I knew you’d like it."

we walk in silence for a while, the peacefulness of the world around them settling into my  bones. It feels like the kind of place they used to talk about visiting, back when life was simpler. Back when we  had dreams of traveling the world together. My heart aches with the memory.

"I missed you so much," I whispers, my voice breaking the quiet. "I didn’t know how to go on without you."

He stops, turning to face me. His eyes are filled with warmth, but there’s something else there too—a sadness, perhaps. "You don’t have to miss me," he says softly. "I’m right here. I’ll always be with you, no matter what."

I chest tightens as she searches his face for answers. "But how is this possible? I don’t understand. None of this makes sense."

Alex’s expression softens. "Does it matter? We’re together, Jane. Isn’t that what you wanted?"

I pause, my mind racing. Of course, this is what she wanted. To be with him again, to feel his touch, to hear his voice. But why does it all feel so… distant?

Alex leads me to a hill that overlooks a shimmering river below. The water glistens, reflecting the stars above like a mirror. It’s the most beautiful thing I has ever seen. Alex sits down, patting the grass beside him, and I follow,  leaning into him as we watch the water flow.
