The sun was setting as the three drove further towards their final destination, Haven Village.

A small village, isolated from all the noise and dirt of Glade City. Haven village was part of Glade City, yet it was completely different from the never-sleeping metropolis where she landed.

The village was away from all highways and the stress of other cities, and only the drive to the narrow, and winding road they were now traveling on, already took forty-five minutes.

Octavia had rested her head on the window of the car and stared out of the window. Her facial expression was a mix between emotionless and what you would describe as a psychopath, and even Noah had stopped yapping after she glared at him.

On the inside she was the complete opposite, fear and confusion heaved her breath, as she anxiously started picking on the healing cut on her arm. Pain flooded her arm, and she pressed her lips together when she finally managed to pull the scab off.

A small rinse of blood made its way down her wrist, and a now satisfied smile appeared on Octavia's face. Turning your mental pain into physical pain is something bittersweet, if you do it too often it'll kill you but when you do it the right way it feels so relieving, that you don't ever want to stop.

But at some point, your body gets so used to the pain that you need more, and more, and more, and that is what will kill you. Octavia knew that, yet she couldn't stop herself.

Physical pain and alcohol were the only things that helped her calm down and forget for a moment, but her body couldn't endure much alcohol so she stuck to the physical pain.

She pulled her sleeve back over the now fresh wound and blinked a few small tears away, that had formed in the corner of her dark brown eyes.

Eventually, an already rusty sign welcomed them to Haven Village. Nadia pulled off the main road and drove further into the village. At some point, Octavia had lost track of all the turns they made with the pretentious, silvery car.

When she turned into the final road it took the girl less than ten seconds to realize that her new home was going to be like living in a nightmare for her. Not only the people, but also the location was the absolute horror for her.

What others would call their dream home was her worst nightmare. A white beach house with a big veranda and a pool in front of it, but the most horrifying part for her— the only thing that separated the house from the ocean was a narrow road and the beach.

"Welcome home, Octavia", Noah said, and carefully placed a hand on her shoulder to shove her towards the front door.

"You know if there was a hurricane, your house would be the first one that'd get hit and then we'd all die, so I wouldn't really call it a home", Octavia challenged, but only got a chuckle in response.
