And have you forgotten yet; you named me disappointment with your last breath?Outer Banks (2024) / Blood Hound
⚓️Ward Cameron goes against all rumors: "I have no favorite child".
(In his wallet sits the picture of a girl with honey in her hair and sun kissed skin - a golden girl and his perfect princess.)
In his words he lays down his family's principles;
1. A united front against all outsiders is all important, all consuming; so what is left for feuds between your own blood?
Many don't know this surely, it is easy to forget with a ceramic smile and a hunter's eye, but what Ward Cameron is made out of isn't fine gold and royalty, it is dirt and lies he hides from the world, his children and investors; he is a mutt from the other side.
Figure Eight wasn't always his home and maybe that's why he resents two of his children as much as he does.
One is littered with dirt brown spots on her face, birthmarks he sure thinks shouldn't belong on someone who has wealth and greatness destined to guide them, make them great in the eyes of the public.
She is a weird one, Alexis Cameron, a girl with too much in her heart, too much in her brain and too little on the outside. Friends call her closed off and a little "wrong"; her face moves differently and to her belongs the habit of monotony.
This girl is too sarcastic and avoidant for her own good.
In her brews the uneasiness of The Cut, the storm of the sea The Pogues have conquered and the determination to do everything in her might to change what she deems damaging.
(Maybe that is why he is slightly forgiving with her, why she is seen around him in a comfortable manner; she has a future ahead of her that will treat both of them with respect, with much earned praise.
He respects her smarts enough to not make her conform to their family's standards.
Ward knows she's simply different. Yet she has a saving grace.)
The other one is the spitting image of a boy fed with the golden spoon. Golf racket in one hand and the other shielding his eyes from the unforgiving sun, he watches as the white ball lands a few feet away from the hole.
First Place. In golf. In life.
His father's approval is always one trophy away from him though.
With every year he grows in height and for some time now, his temper grows alongside him. Each ball he misses means another white line clinging onto his nose. Every girl that rejects him means another night out getting with the one who first says yes and sees him as what he is: untouchable and wanted.
