the girl sighed as her brown eyes followed the blue sky above her head overcasting her like an umbrella.

there it was. rockets after rockets making a unique row of words in the sky. it was the day of the inauguration afterall. loosing the straps of her tote bag which was now hanging lowly on her shoulder she stared at the balloons which were floating in the air and going nowhere.

HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY TO TECHO.G

the air was curving into the sky as she read.

A NEW REVOLUTIONARY INVENTION

the rocket was drawing a heart now.

to change the history this time

clapping sounds were audible. all the strangers on the street stood still as they all cheered. was she the only one who was scared? scared of the unknown which was going to be thrown soon into her world, scared of the new, scared of the change.

A NETWORK SYSTEM TO CONNECT TWO WORLDS

the billboards were celebrating it too.

" not only a new network system but they have created a new app to run the test of the network!  "

" an app is available now on playstore and app store. "

she scoffed after reading it. for free? what a marketing tactic. they were only giving it for free to test it. they said when you don't pay for something you are the one being paid. they were now only using people to test it.

she hated to contact human beings in her daily life and now they were going to connect to another world to communicate with? how ridiculous.

only because she had a job and she needed it to survive on this planet called earth, she couldn't but work under the same company TECHO.G which was the one who invented the network system.

earth, a planet long ago altered by none other than human beings for their own need to survive. a world that was to be the only planet in which life existed, well in history books because that's what people had believed in for a very long time. but now? they were even going to communicate with another world. it had become globalizing to universalizing.

after all the balloons became smaller and smaller in her vision, people started to move past her. but she stayed still on her spot, some people's shoulders hit hers. her vision suddenly was unable to focus as everything started to move so fast compared to her.

not only in the streets but in her life as well was she standing in the same spot while everyone else moved on.

"hey!" someone jumped behind her as they shook her shoulder.
"joon?" seoyun said surprisingly. the latter smiled brightly. "yes, love. what are you doing here?" seoyun's lips curved upwards while looking at her closest friend joon whose hair fell on her shoulder as her yellow cardigan caught the light like a beam of sunshine.

"nothing, i forgot we don't have work today," she said while looking up at the sky once more. the balloons have faded away, no longer a thing in her vision. the latter laughed as she said that. "girl, come on. we are celebrating today! and congrats to you as well, you've worked so hard on this, i'm so proud of you," joon cheered while her bestest friend in the whole world glanced at her with teary eyes. "i- uhm, thanks. it was hard." it really was hard, all those sleepless nights and scolding from her boss made it tiring. she remembered how nobody said a word when she succeeded in cracking a code but everybody let out bitter words to her over a single mistake.

"by the way, seoyun!" joon now examines her friend's state. her long hair was messily styled into a bun and the tote bag was hanging loosely on her shoulder. seoyun just looked at her as a sign to let her continue. "mr kang told me to inform you about this. he wants you to run the app for a while and test it. he wants to have a close observation on this, hoping nothing goes wrong. you know this project was a very different one. and i'm sure he only trusts you with this."

the urge to sigh became heavier for seoyun but she didn't, rather she accepted her fate and just nodded. "i will make sure to do that."

"you can be honest with me about your feelings," joon knew exactly what she was implying.

"i fucking hate it. i don't wish to talk with aliens," seoyun finally let herself out. "like come on, i already hate these people living on earth but now i gotta deal with aliens?" the short-haired girl just stared at her with an almost laughing face. "aliens?" she couldn't hold it anymore as she laughed which was almost a wheezing. "you are wrong, they are humans like us too, you know how they look like. you could never differentiate between two people from these two worlds." they both started walking as they talked.

"you know meeting a stranger might become the right choice to do at the moment."
