Chapter 14

Dylan slept a little later the following morning. She got out of bed and went to pee. Afterwards Dylan checked her phone. Her mother had messaged her back and she had a couple of missed calls from her.
Dylan padded downstairs and made some coffee before she called her mother back.
"What was Nico thinking?" Carol asked.
"From what I can gather, Katys homelife isn't great. Nicos solution was to fly to California. I mean his heart was in the right place, but his brain is limping behind." Dylan answered.
"What do we do?"
"Well they can both stay here for a few days and then I will send them back home. If Katys homelife is as bad as the kids say it is, CPS need to be informed."
"Hmmm. The thing is, if cps get involved, they could end up putting Katy in a foster home away from Philly." Carol said.
"Could you try to foster her, Mom?"
"Maybe. I will look into into it. Listen I will transfer some money over to feed the kids."
"Ok, Mom. I love you."
"I love you too honey." They both hung up. Dylan,sipped her coffee and then poured herself some cereal. Nico came through to the kitchen and helped himself to orange juice and cereal.
"Good morning little brother."
"Good morning big sister." Nico smiled. Dylan filled him in on the chat she had just had with their mother.
"Ok. Thanks, Dyl." Nico smiled. Dylan stood up from the breakfast bar and took her dishes over to the sink as Katy appeared in the kitchen doorway. Nico waved her over as Dylan went upstairs to get ready for the day.
After her shower, Dylan went grocery shopping and returned. She had a strange feeling that she was being followed home. She kept checking behind her, but couldn't see anything or anyone. Dylan shrugged it off. Getting back home, Nico and Katy had made themselves useful. They did chores that needed doing. Load the dishwasher, sweep floors and do some laundry. They also did it with a decent soundtrack too. Green Day was blasting out as Dylan got in the door.
Once Dylan had put the shopping away, she took the 2 kids to the mall. They found the food court and then browsed the stores. They went into the Nike store, where Nico got himself a new baseball cap. Dylan got one for Brendon.
They hit Hot Topic. Katys eyes were wide.
"Omg!" She said looking at the stuff the store carried. She was looking at a Panic! At The Disco hoodie. Katy sighed and walked away from it and went to the posters. She spotted a panic one. Dylan took Nico to one side.
"Does Katy know who my boyfriend is?" I asked. Nico shook his head.
"Why?"
"Well everything Panic related she looks at and sighs." Dylan replied.
"Oh yea she's a huge fan." Nico said. Dylan looked at him and sighed. She them proceeded to pick some Panic merch up for Katy. The hoodie a couple of posters and a bracelet. Nico wandered over to the Green Day hoodie and picked himself one up. Dylan got herself a Fall Out Boy t-shirt.

The next day Dylan took Nico and Katy to Disneyland. They had a superb time. They went on rides and watched the parade.
One evening, Dylan managed to facetime with Brendon. She was on the couch talking to him when Nico and Katy came in from the pool. Katy stopped walking when she saw who Dylan was talking to.
"Y-you know Brendon Urie?" She asked Dylan.
"Yes. He's my boyfriend." She replied. Katy gasped and started fangirling. "Would you like to say hi?"
"Really?" Katys blue eyes lit up.
Dylan held the phone at an angle so that Katy could see Brendon and vice versa. They spoke for several minutes then Katy went to get showered.
"She seems like a sweet kid." Brendon said.
"She is. Bren, she, I don't think she's got a good homelife. You should've seen her at the mall. Sighing at everything. I bought her a couple of things from Hot Topic. She loves the band, so yea I got her some merch." Brendon stayed quiet and then looked Dylan in the eye.
"I love you, Dylan. So much. How kind hearted you are. Letting her stay and buying her basic things like clothes." Dylan smiled and traced Brendons face on the screen.
"I love you too Bren. Where are you heading to next?"
"China, then Russia." Dylan nodded. Brendon looked behind him as Dan and Mike walked past. They waved at Dylan and she waved back.
"I gotta go baby." Brendon said.
"Ok, babe." They said their goodbyes. Katy and Nico came back downstairs.
"Pizza?" Dylan asked. Both of the kids nodded their heads.
