Peter Parker slowly stirred awake as the morning light filtered through his bedroom window, casting warm hues across the cluttered room. He blinked a few times, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, and let out a groggy sigh. The remnants of last night's dreams faded, leaving him with an uneasy sense of loss. He rolled over, glancing at the clock on his nightstand—it was later than he intended.
With a grunt, he swung his legs over the side of the bed and shuffled to the living room, still wearing his wrinkled t-shirt and pajama pants. The faint sound of the television flickering to life filled the air as he grabbed the remote, hoping to find some distraction from the weight pressing down on his chest.
As he turned on the TV, the screen crackled to life, and a familiar newscaster's voice filled the room.
"Good morning New Yorkers! In breaking news, the city is still reeling from the mysterious disappearance of its beloved hero, Spider-Man." The image of a city skyline flashed on the screen, overlaid with headlines that read "Missing in Action" and "Where is Our Hero?"
Peter sank onto the couch, his heart sinking as the report continued. Footage of Spider-Man swinging through the city played in the background, juxtaposed with scenes of worried citizens voicing their concerns. The newscaster's tone was grave, filled with urgency as she detailed the rising crime rates since Spider-Man's absence.
"Residents are left feeling vulnerable and scared as the city waits for any sign of hope from the web-slinger," she said, her expression serious.
"Reports have poured in from all over—citizens questioning whether Spider-Man has finally hung up his mask for good."
Peter stared at the screen, the words hitting him like a punch to the gut. A sense of emptiness filled the room, and the world outside felt colder. His thoughts raced, guilt and sorrow entwined. The city needed him, yet here he was, trapped in his own pain.
The camera cut back to the anchor, who leaned forward, concern etched across her face.
"As we continue to cover this developing story, we have to ask the question on everyone's mind: where is Spider-Man?"
