"So what do you think of the new boy?" Annabeth asked. They were currently waiting outside the Hermes cabin. Annabeth was reading and Andi was doing cartwheels around her.
Andi knew Annabeth was hoping Percy was the one, and that his defeat of the minatour solidified her belief. But Andi didn't want to get her hopes up partially because if he wasn't the one ( even though that seemed very unlikely), Andi didn't want Annabeth to be disappointed. And also because Andi didn't know what to think about him. He was tiny and didn't seem like a fighter. yet there was a silent determination in his eyes that made Andi think he could be a really dangerous enemy. He was certainly cute but she had already embarrassed herself with 'He's an Aphrodite kid' nonsense. It was a great thing that nobody who was there at the time was fluent in Korean.
So Andi settled on saying, "He drools in his sleep."
Annabeth laughed, a sound that Andi loved to hear.
Her best friend was often too serious and needed to constantly remember that she was still a kid who was allowed to have fun. Andi first discovered this when she befriended the girl five years ago. She had been so glad to have someone her own age at camp. Yet at first, the blond had wanted nothing to do with her, which was understandable as she had wanted time to grieve after Thalia died. So Andi made it her job to cheer her up. She would show her all the secret parts of camp she had discovered while living here and would sneak her treats that her dad would give her. Slowly but surely, Annabeth began to accept Andi as a friend. Fast forward to now and Andi was the only one who could Annabeth Annie without getting a knife to their face ( a young son of Apollo learned that the hard way).
"Do you think he could really be the one? I mean he is kind of on the small side." Andi said.
"I dunno, but he is powerful." Annabeth shrugged.
"Just don't be too disappointed if he isn't the one, Annie." Andi ignored the way said girl glared at her for the use of the nickname. Just because she didn't try to kill her when she used it doesn't mean that she liked it. "Remember the Peter Johnson situation?"
Andi found herself laughing at his name but stopped when Annabeth gave her a disappointed look.
"I can't believe the name Peter Johnson, I mean it sounds like something my dad would call Percy. Actually, I'm sure Dad already called him that."
"You know, Peter is older, right? So if anything Percy Jackson is actually a knockoff of Peter Johnson."
"Why are you defending him?" Andi asked, raising her eyebrow.
"No reason, just saying the truth," Annabeth shrugged. Andi would have believed her if she couldn't read emotions. Her little Annie ( despite her being older) likes Peter! Andi didn't get the hype but if he could make her best friend happy, she was glad.
Peter was a son of Apollo, yes the same one from the nickname accident, who had arrived at camp last year. Annabeth was so sure he was the one and was heartbroken to find out that he wasn't after Chiron allowed her to visit the oracle to find out if he was the one. Peter had apolloised( see what she did there?) endlessly for it but Annabeth had stopped talking to him. Apparently, that wasn't the case anymore.
"Ooooookkkk," Andi said as she knew it was best not to question the blond. (She might be her best friend but she was scary!)
"I think I see Percy and Chiron coming our way," Annabeth changed the subject.
She was right, straight ahead of them, were Percy and Chiron deep in conversation. Percy seemed to questioning Chiron while Chiron was trying to change the topic. Percy seemed to give in and Chiron steered them our way.
