Chapter-23: Danger

Aylia pov:

As I snuggled into cushion, my eyelids grew heavy, the clock striking 10:30 pm. Sleep beckoned, but just as I drifted off, Jungkook's hushed tones pierced the calm.

Jungkook- how the hell he did that?!!!

My heart skipped a beat. Who was he talking to? And why the urgency?

I slipped out of couch, my concern propelling me upright. I went near the pool, his back was to me, his phone pressed to his ear.

Aylia- jungkook?

He spun around, his eyes flashing with worry and frustration. As I stood there, my hand still on his shoulder, he immediately cut the call, his eyes locking onto mine with an unnerving intensity.

Jungkook- we have to leave, now

He urged, his voice low and urgent. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he grasped my hands, his grip tight, and pulled me toward the door. We left the house in haste, the night air swallowing us whole, and his urgency was contagious, my heart racing.

In the car, his hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white.

Aylia- what's happening, please tell me

I pleaded, my voice barely above a whisper. His eyes met mine in the rearview mirror, and I saw a flicker of worry.

Jungkook- it is about a man John

Aylia- who is he??

Jungkook- he is one of my enemy, and wants revenge, against me

Aylia- but why?

Jungkook- because I killed his brother,and there was a reason to do, and he'll hurt you to get to me

Aylia- so what you gonna do now?

Jungkook- I won't let anything happen to you. You're safe with me

Aylia- but why are we leaving home?

Jungkook- eric informed me that John's men might have planted a bomb

My heart skipped a beat. His grip on the steering wheel tightened.

Jungkook- we can't stay there

As he accelerated, the speedometer needle surged.

Jungkook- i called up Eric he will meet us at Raven's Bridge

Aylia- what if they follow us?

Hia gaze met mine.

Jungkook- I'll keep you safe, this is my promise to you!

Suddenly he floored the accelerator, the empty road unwound before us like a dark ribbon. Suddenly, the car's brakes screeched, and we skidded to a halt.

I gasped, my heart racing. In front of us, a barricade of cars materialized, blocking our path. Men in black suits swarmed out, their faces obscured by masks.

They broke the door of my side and my door swung open, and strong hands dragged me out. I kicked and shouted, but they restrained me. Jungkook was pulled out too, his eyes blazing with fury.

Jungkook- leave her alone!!

We both were dragged out on the road, the only sound the distant hum of crickets. He and I were forced to kneel, facing each other. Two men gripped my arms, their hold unyielding. His eyes locked onto mine, filled with desperation.

Two men mirrored the same hold on Jungkook, his fists clenched. John sauntered toward us, a smirk twisting his face. He leaned against his car, chuckling.
