The next morning, Sanemi woke up in extreme pain, his body wracked with agony.

"Oh God, is this because I said I didn't believe in You? Aaaah, it hurts," Sanemi thought, his mind swirling with confusion and pain.

His mother sat beside him, worry etched on her face as she helped him sit up. "Are you okay, Sanemi?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"I don't know, Mom... Suddenly the pain's gotten worse. For three days, it felt like there was no pain at all, and now... it's unbearable," Sanemi said, wincing as the pain surged through him.

His mother immediately called for the doctor. When the doctor arrived, he examined Sanemi carefully, administered some pain-relieving shots, and then left the room.

"How are you feeling now, Sanemi?" his mother asked, brushing his hair gently as she spoke.

"I just want to sleep, Mom," Sanemi murmured, closing his eyes in exhaustion.

When he woke up again, the pain had lessened, and he felt slightly better. He noticed his mother had fallen asleep beside his bed, her head resting on the edge of his mattress. Quietly, not wanting to disturb her, he got up and decided to take a walk outside.

As he stepped into the hospital corridor, he heard voices—a conversation between a doctor and a police officer. Sanemi, feeling weak, sat down on a nearby chair and listened.

"Sir, it wasn't exactly an accident," the doctor said.

"What do you mean by 'not exactly an accident'?" the police officer asked, his tone serious.

"Well," the doctor began, "according to our examination, the two women and the man died due to the car crash. But the boy... the boy didn't die from the accident."

The officer's face darkened. "How is that possible? We found them all in the same spot, in the same car," he said, his voice tense.

As they spoke, another officer approached, holding a file. "Sir, here's the forensic report," he said, handing it over. "According to forensics, the doctor is correct. The three family members died due to the car crash—their bodies have traces of car debris. But the boy...," the officer trailed off, showing a disturbing photo from the report. "Look at his neck. The marks show signs of strangulation. Someone choked him, and when that didn't kill him, they used a broken piece of glass to finish the job."

The senior officer's eyes widened in shock. "My God... who would do such a thing? Do we have any leads?" he asked.

"Yes, sir," the junior officer responded. "We found CCTV footage. The man who hit the car accidentally confessed that he had panicked. The boy was still alive after the crash, and when he came out of the car and tried to call the police, the man got scared... and...," the officer paused, his voice lowering with disgust, "he killed the boy to cover it up."

"An entire family, gone," the senior officer said grimly, shaking his head in disbelief. "Who found the car?"

"The boy's uncle, sir. He said he got a call from a boy who found his nephew's phone near the accident site," the junior officer explained.

"Do we have the names of the victims?" the senior officer asked.

"Yes, sir. The father was Yuki Tomioka, the mother Hina Tomioka, their daughter Tsutako Tomioka, and their youngest son, Giyu Tomioka."

Sanemi's heart stopped. Giyu? he thought, his mind reeling in shock. He sat there, frozen, as the realization hit him like a wave. Giyu... the boy he had spoken to, helped, shared quiet moments with... was dead? Had been dead this whole time?

His chest tightened as the officers' voices became distant echoes in his ears. A cold, eerie numbness swept over him. He felt like the world was spinning out of control, his mind struggling to piece together everything he had just heard.

"Giyu Tomioka is dead... but I just spoke to him. We walked together. We searched for his phone. He hugged me... How could he be dead?"

Flashbacks

"Everything in this world has meaning, Shinazugawa. God loves everyone. If He's hurting you, He's also healing you. He gives everything meaning and everyone their own purpose. You may not understand now, but you will, soon enough."

"See you soon, Shinazugawa, see you soon"
