Jacob and I went with Grandpa Tirso. Northern Samar was so far, and Jacob also came with me to his house. As soon as we arrived, Grandpa Tirso greeted me right away.
‘Grandson, you’ve grown so big,’ Grandpa said.
‘Nah, I’ve always been big,’ I replied.
‘Roderick, why don’t we eat?’ Grandpa asked my dad. Page 8
‘Sorry, Dad, I have to go to work. Maybe next time,’ my dad said to Grandpa. After a while, my dad left with his car, and Jacob and I stayed at Grandpa Tirso’s house. It wasn’t that fun there because the house was old, and some parts were already broken.
‘Grandson, how’s your school? I heard you’re always on your cellphone. Why don’t you play outside?’ Grandpa asked me.
‘But Grandpa, I’m already grown up,’ I replied. Page 9Later, Jacob and I went to Grandpa’s room, and we saw many Filipino toys there, like tex, marbles, and pogs. There were also toy cars and even Legos.
‘Wow, your grandpa has so many toys,’ Jacob said to me.
‘Of course, Grandpa’s from the ‘90s, so he really has a lot,’ I told Jacob. Then, Grandpa came into the room and said,
‘Grandkids, my diary is over there. Please don’t touch it,’ Grandpa Tirso told us. Page 10
We just replied, ‘Yes, Grandpa Tirso.’There wasn’t much to do at Grandpa’s house, so we just wandered around. We didn’t even play with Grandpa Tirso’s toys because we were already grown up.
