Vera screamed when the cake exploded as she was on the opposite side of Trey taking pictures and got a faceful—that'll take a while to get out of her hair. I could live with that, after what she did to Pierce at Homecoming, she deserved a little extra splattering.

Many other students also got splattered and were moaning and groaning over their ruined outfits. Pierce glanced keenly at me but I looked as innocent as possible. Haruko, Cassie, and I tried very hard not to laugh—everyone looked hilarious with cake on their faces!

"ARGH! WHO DID THIS?!" Vera screeched, smearing cake off her face. "If this was someone's idea of a joke, it's not funny!"

"Actually, it is," Haruko mumbled, stifling snorts of laughter. Cassie and I tittered too and so did a few others who hadn't gotten splattered with cake. Only Pierce managed to keep a poker face.

Trey glanced at me, staring intensely at me. I smirked at him so he'd know I was the one behind it—I couldn't make out his expression under all that cake but I suspected he knew and was scowling. He suddenly turned around and walked out. Everyone who'd been splattered also started walking out, grumbling about having to shower.

"Well, let's split, looks like the party's over," the others said and left too. Finally only Pierce, Haruko, Cassie, David and I were left. Thankfully, David didn't get splattered or else Cassie would have been one very guilty girlfriend.

"You know, this reminds me of that paint explosion at Homecoming," David said thoughtfully.

"It sure does, doesn't it?" Pierce asked rhetorically, glancing at me. David nodded slowly and blew out his cheeks.

"Pity we didn't get to actually eat the cake," he said dolefully, and we three girls looked self-incriminating. "Oh well, guess we'd better go too, the waiters will wanna clean up now. Cassie, coming?"

"Right behind you," Cassie said quickly, taking his arm as they left the restaurant. Haruko also got up to leave, silently saluting me with a secret smirk as she left. It was just Pierce and me left now.

"So, that's what you had planned," Pierce drawled smoothly. I smiled innocently.

"Was Haruko's idea really, she's the brains of the operation," I replied, sipping some water. Pierce snickered.

"Not bad, I might've thought of it myself," he said while clapping, and I giggled. So Pierce wasn't mad at me for my prank, he applauded it!

"I gotta say, getting egg on his face was a good way to pop that overinflated ego of his," he continued, getting up with a plate and fork. "Or rather, egg, milk, butter, flour, and sugar."

"Where are you going?" I asked in surprise, seeing him go over to the cake. He cut himself a large slice from the messy remains and dumped it on his plate.

"Gotta try the cake my girlfriend made," he said, winking at me as he returned to his seat. I laughed, happy to see him eat with relish.

"I don't have room, else I would've shared in that," I said. Pierce shook his head.

"Uh-uh. No cake for you, babydoll, you've been a bad girl," he teased me in a playful drawl sending me into more fits of laughter. Well, that was one way to end a party with a 'bang'. As for revenge, it was a total success.

We eventually returned to Pierce's room to pack—the bus to take us home would arrive in a couple hours and I wanted to be ready. That's when Pierce gave me some startling news.

"Oh, babydoll, I forgot to tell you—the roads are closed till tomorrow morning, it's a blizzard out there," Pierce explained. "We almost got blown off while skiing earlier... Luckily, the lodge has graciously allowed us to stay one more night free of charge." I gaped.
