Katrina shivered as she strutted through the back door, her eyes swollen from all the tears she let out. She felt the volcano of all her bottled up emotions erupt."It hurts" she thought.
She pushed the door open allowing her to enter through the kitchen.
Her apartment wasn't luxurious but it was her home. She turned on the lights to the living room.An uneventful living space, very small with a sofa and a centre table that didn't take up any space at all and at the corner a ten inch television and beside it a petite Christmas tree she got last Christmas.
Any other person would have called it a death house because of the eerieness of the gloomy room but it only made Katrina feel all the more alive.
She took a peek at her lock screen which showed her that it was currently eight minutes past eight. Bill, her fiancé, was meant to be at her place in a few minutes. She dropped her bag on the sofa and sat, brooding.
"Forward, backward, forward, backward"
The entire room felt heavy and choked. She needed something to drink. Walking back to the kitchen, she grabbed a glass and rushed over to the sink. Her hands held the glass firmly; she gulped down every drop leaving nothing behind. She was tensed, no, scared. Her heartbeat racing at an inhuman rate.
The front door knob rustled.
It was Bill! He had the keys to the apartment."Bill, I'm sorry," she stuttered.
"It's Houston." Katrina stiffened
, staring blankly at him.
He made the house seem smaller with his huge build while he stood at a staggering 6ft. He covered the distance between them in an instance. With her eyes were swollen, her hair disheveled. He held her gaze, not sure of what she was thinking. He touched her; she felt like silk."Why?"
She trembled. Houston leaned over, gently lifting up her face.
Their eyes met. She hated how his gaze felt, like he could see the chaos going on inside.
His hands moved to the back of her neck, brushing his lips over hers first. He kissed her; it felt warm, holding her closer, deepening the kiss. He parted her lips."Houston," she sighed.
Heat built up, savoring and tasting every bit. Gently nibbling on her lower lip, Katrina knew this was wrong but the feeling was just so right.
Throwing her hands around his neck, she moved her fingers through his hair. This daring feeling, like she was all that mattered, yet she barely knew this man. His hands encircled her waist; their tongues tangled.
His hands moved under the brown top she had on,brushing her bare skin. The door flung open
Bill stood there. Still.
"Katrina!!"
Bill's voice echoed through the silent room.
Pulling away, they stared because it was all they could do.
Their breaths were ragged."Bill" she let out.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.
Wasn't this too much for one day?
No one moved.
Her head was banging. There was this loud noise. She wondered if Bill or Houston could hear it.Pain arched round her body. Something had sliced through her body.
Her top was damp. Her head heaved. In a minute, she knew she was shot. Unable to understand what was going on around her.More shots were fired at least that's what she could make out before all she could see was darkness as her eyee closed.
