- Really? Are you sure I can? I wouldn't want to disturb...

- Of course not! Come on, get in the car you two ...

My mother opened one of the back doors of the car and beckoned us to go in. Whether it was my mom or Jim, they both had a huge smile on their faces. I could never tell which one of them was happier to know that Jim would be dining with us. As if it wasn't enough to see these two enjoying their best life for a so simple thing, my brother who was in the front passenger seat of the car sticked his oily hands (probably due to some chips that he had to eat before coming) against the window of the car and looked at Jim get into the car as if he was a rare endangered species. I closed my eyes for a few second just to stop seeing, even for a few moments, the desperate sight that stood before me. Then I got back in the car and sat down next to Jim. I smiled slightly at him, leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear :

- Don't pay attention to them, and know that you are not forced to answer their questions.

- But I would answer them anyway, because I want to.

He smiled at me before I continued whispering.

- And I apologize in advance for them and anything they might say or do that would make you uncomfortable.

My mother looked at me in the rearview mirror and added :

-What are you telling him ?

-Nothing at all, mom, don't worry.

-If you say so...

She stopped staring at me to focus on the road again, but she did not stop talking.

- So what movie did you see?

- "Dracula"

- Dracula? Reassure me, Rose didn't make you forced you, right ?

He laughs a little bit before answering.

-Of course not, we chose together.

-  Good... And, I was wondering... How long have you known each other?

- We've actually been at the same school for four years, but it's not long since we really got to know each other.

- Really? Why?

- humm... I don't know... maybe because we were both shy to make the first step...

- I see... It's still a shame...

-Yes, that's right...

Jim smiled sadly, I also found it a pity, a pity that we could not share more time together. Plus Jim was a good person with whom I felt comfortable and especially safe. So yes, it was a pity that neither of us had dared to say or do clearly what we wanted. My mother finally stopped talking, but of course my brother took the opportunity to start to bother Jim as well. He turned around and stared at Jim.

- Have you ever kissed my sister?

We both blushed and Jim started laughing.

-No, she doesn't want to.

- Good! Because it's disgusting, my sister may be a filthy, that's too much! So the lover better keeps his mouth to himself!

Jim laughed even more while I hided my face in my hands.

-You may be right. But I'm not her lover anyway, so I can't...

My mother and brother exclaimed at the same time :

- What?! Really?!

Jim seemed a little awkward but he still smiled.

-No, I'm just a friend.

My brother said.

- Why?

-Because your sister doesn't love me like a lover, at least not yet.

-She's quite stupid...

- Hey!

I glared at my brother while Jim was holding back his laughter.

-Why do you think she's stupid?

- Because you're handsome, you answer questions and you seem nice.

- Thank you...

He smiled at my brother and I began to wonder if the three of them didn't planed all this.

-Ah, and you have a nice smile too!

-I like your brother Rose.

I looked at  him and could not help but smile at him.

-Good, because it's the hardest in the family.

-Hey! That's not even true!

Jim and I started laughing before my mother said :

-We arrived.
