That you would ever feel the same way about me
Just too much, just too much (Just too much)"

Crush - David Archuleta

—••—

The filming of Victorious was nearing its end, and seventeen-year-old Amara was excited to move on to her next big project—her debut album. Yet, there was a bittersweet pang in her heart, knowing this chapter of her life was coming to an end.

She was also crushing hard on one of the background actors, Nicholas. He was just her type: tall, manly, and a total gentleman. He was friends with everyone on set, especially close to one of her castmates, Avan. From him, she learned that Nicholas had moved to LA from Denver about a year ago to pursue his acting career.

Amara sat with her friends, Liz and Victoria, trying to watch him without making it too obvious. Her friends picked up on her gaze. "Ah, there he is again," Victoria teased, a knowing smile on her face.

Amara sighed, her eyes lingering on Nicholas. She was excited, but nervous too."Come on, Amara! You've been crushing on that guy for weeks now," Liz, one of her friends, teased. "Just talk to him. He's cute, and he's totally into you."

"Yeah, it's obvious he likes you," Victoria chimed in, joining in on the teasing. "He's always staring at you when you're filming. You gotta make a move before we're all done filming!"

Amara rolled her eyes at her friends' relentless teasing. "You guys are relentless," she said, half-jokingly. "And it's not just me crushing on him, it's half the girls on set."

Liz scoffed. "Yeah, but you're the only one he stares at."

Amara shrugged, uncertainty clouding her face. "What if he has a girlfriend? Or isn't interested? I don't want to make a fool of myself. That's one of the reasons I haven't said anything."

Victoria shook her head, a determined look in her eyes. "You don't know that. Besides, what's the worst that could happen? He says no? Big deal."  Liz nodded in agreement. "Exactly! And if he does have a girlfriend, which we have no idea if he does or not, at least you'll know and can move on."

Amara sighed, her doubts still hanging heavy. "I don't know, guys. It's just... I don't want to embarrass myself in front of him, or everyone on set."  Victoria nudged her in response. "You're way too hard on yourself, girl. You're not gonna embarrass yourself. You're gorgeous, talented, and have a killer voice. What's not to like?"

Liz nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly. You're the total package. And if he can't see that, then he's not worth it."  Amara still looked unsure. " I just... I don't know if I can do it. What if he rejects me and it's awkward between us working together for the rest of filming?"

Victoria rolled her eyes again, her patience with her friend running thin. "Jesus, girl. You're overthinking this way too much. It's not like he's gonna reject you in front of everyone. And even if he does, you're a professional. You'll handle it."

"I don't know, I—" Amara was cut off by Avan strolling over with his usual easy-going grin. "Hey, chicas! What's all this drama about?" he asked, clearly amused.

"That was so corny, Avan," Liz laughed. "It's like you're trying to be Jacob from Twilight—'Where the hell have you been, loca?"" Amara burst out laughing.
