Chapter 2: Echoes of confusion

-Luna POV-

Days had passed, but I still couldn't get the image of Caleb and that girl out of my mind. The way they seemed so close, laughing together and sharing inside jokes-it left me wondering if they were in a relationship ba or friends lang. The closeness I saw, the way their conversation seemed so natural, and the shared smiles-it was all too much for me to ignore. I hadn't heard any rumors about Caleb having a girlfriend. As far as I knew, Caleb was also an NGSB, same as me. Pero still, I couldn't help but be curious about their relationship status.

I couldn't stop asking myself, "Are they just friends, or is there something more between them?" It was driving me crazy. Caleb was always friendly, but the way he looked at her, the ease in their interaction, it was different. I tried to shake the feeling off, but every time I closed my eyes, the memory of that moment played back again, making it hard to let go.

5:30 na, but I couldn't feel any energy in my body today. Para bang may pumipigil sa akin na tumayo sa kinahihigaan ko. I kept staring at the ceiling, feeling this heaviness inside me. Pasalamat ngang Sabado ngayon, walang pasok. Pero this Saturday, parang naninibago ako. Usually, I'd already be out of bed, walking Poiwe, my dog, by 5 AM sharp, enjoying the cool morning air. Pero this weekend, iba. Parang super draining. My mind felt clouded with confusion, overthinking, and all the "what ifs" that wouldn't stop replaying.

It wasn't like me to feel this way. I was always the kind of person who brushed things off easily, pero ngayon, I was stuck. I knew I didn't even have the privilege to act like this when it comes to Caleb kasi I know na friends lang kami, and I don't really stand a chance with him. I mean, who am I kidding? Pero still, the thoughts kept coming back. It felt like a loop I couldn't escape, and it frustrated me to no end. I was haunted by questions I didn't have the courage to answer.

What if they were more than friends? What if Caleb had found someone, and I was just in the background all this time?

"Luna!" I heard someone shouting outside my window, snapping me out of my thoughts. It was Andrea. Nakalimutan ko! She told me pala kahapon na mag wawalking kami this morning. Of course, I forgot—my mind was too preoccupied with Caleb and that mystery girl.

"Oh my gosh, sorry! I forgot! Just wait for 20 minutes, I'll change quick lang!" I shouted back, raising my right hand to signal her to wait.

I jumped out of bed, rushed to the bathroom, splashed some water on my face, and brushed my teeth. My reflection in the mirror showed just how tired I was, but I quickly changed into something comfortable, wore my shoes, grabbed Poiwe's leash, and headed out.

"Let's go" I said, smiling at Andrea, who was patiently waiting in our front gatr. She stood up with her usual wide grin, and we began walking in silence. But it wasn't an awkward silence. It was the kind of silence that only close friends could share, where words weren't necessary. The quietness was comforting, almost like Andrea knew I needed it today.

Poiwe was leading the way, bouncing around, her tongue hanging out as she happily explored the streets. She was always full of energy, wagging her tail and enjoying the outdoors. I couldn't help but smile watching her, as if her happiness was contagious. Poiwe, being a golden retriever, is the friendliest dog you could ever meet. She's always excited to greet new people and enjoys her daily walks more than anything else.
