Zeus brought rain down on Volterra, a rare sight. The area was usually hot and sunny but today was an exception. The human loved sunshine and warmth, though rain was a nice surprise. Alora sat in front of an open window, watching as people ran with umbrellas over their heads. It was so nice to watch.
"Do you ever wonder what these peoples lives must be like?" Alora questions, her gaze still focused on the people outside. Alec was babysitting her today, much to his dismay. His reply is instant.
"No." It was the answer that she had expected. Most of the people in this castle had lived for so long that they simply didn't even bother with humans anymore, only seeing them as a midnight snack.
"Do you ever wonder why we exist?" The question causes Alec to raise a brow, stepping closer and glancing out the window, following her gaze.
"I suppose, sometimes. Why do you ask?" Alora hums at his answer, watching as a specific lady walks through the rain with no umbrella, simply embracing it with a soft smile. Everyone was so different. It intrigued her.

"It's so strange. We live on a planet among the stars. Scientists say that we are the only life form to be discovered, but why? Why do we exist when others do not?" This was a reasonable question, Alec had to admit. But he didn't care much about humans, only his own people.
"I think the bigger question is why do we exist?" Alora couldn't help but glance back at him as he spoke, this question intriguing her more. Humans had theories as to why they existed but vampires didn't seem too.
"Do vampires have souls?" Alec shakes his head. Vampires lived eternally. These creatures were afraid of death but maybe they were just terrified of the doomed fate that awaited them afterwards. They were all corrupted just as Lucifer had wanted for humanity. Were vampires his doing?

"I'm going to my room. I have to use the bathroom." Alec nods his head, watching as she walked away. She turns the corner, glancing around as she approaches a small little door. Alora opens it, sliding out. Suddenly, she's outside. She didn't go outside to escape. The rain was just calling to her. The human walked a bit, looking up and letting the rain soak her.

It was beautiful outside. Soft street lamps lit up the road, the sound of pattering rain filling the silence. Every once in a while, there'd be a cool breeze that would pass through, goosebumps rising as the wind ripples. Alora feels a cool breeze on her neck. At first, she thought it was the wind but quickly realizes it was something else. She spins around, jumping back as she sees Caius staring down at her.
"What did I say about leaving the castle alone? How do you always manage to slip past?" His words weren't cold. If anything, he sort of sounded amused.
"I wanted to come outside!" She defends, crossing her arms and turning away from him. His lips curl into a small smile as he comes to stand next to her.
"It's dark. We can walk." Alora can't help but look up at him, her pearly whites on display. She grabs his hand, dragging him through the streets. They were both soaked from head to toe, the rain drenching them. As they walked, she noticed a little Cafe was still open, lovely music leaking out.

"Do you know how to dance?" She questions, looking up at him with a glint in her eye. Caius looks down at her, nodding his head. He had an idea of what she was going to ask.
"Are you asking me to a dance?" He wonders, amusement written all over his face. Alora nods her head, holding her hand out, waiting for him to accept her invitation. After a moment, he allows her to place her hand into his, snaking his other arm around her waist. She smiles up at him, letting one arm drape over his shoulder. They started to slow dance in the rain to the faint music coming from the Cafe near them.
"This is nice." Alora muses, her voice soft as she spoke. Caius' presence seemed to calm and soothe her. It was a nice feeling.
"Indeed." As they dance, Alora can't help but feel whole. She had always practiced dancing with her past friends but she had never had a man that she wanted to dance with and as she looked up at the man in front of her, she knew why she wasn't drawn to any of the men who had entered her life. They weren't him. They dance for a while until Caius snaps his head around, an unknown scent wafting through the air. He squints his eyes, whipping out a phone and dialing a number.
"Get out here and find this idiot." He growls into his phone, not waiting for a reply before shoving his phone back into his pocket, grabbing Alora's hand and dragging her back to the castle. She was quite nervous, unsure as to what was going on.
"Caius?" She whispers, looking up at him as he drags her through an alley, a shortcut to the castle.
"We're being stalked, you're not safe out here. Go, I'll be back." He answers, knowing what she was going to ask. He opens a castle door, someone from the guard already waiting there for them. Alora steps into the castle, not getting any other information from Caius before the door slams shut.

Caius follows the scent of the passerby and when it comes to an end, he finds Demetri standing over him, his eyes squinted as the man starts to stumble.
"I was j-just exploring!" He tries to defend himself, his eyes widening as Caius comes into view. Caius watches this man, a little scowl on his lips. They now knew of Alora. That was bad. People would complain about the hypocrisy of the Volturi. It was annoying. Some stupid covens would probably throw a fit and break some rules as if that would do anything. The Volturi ruled over everyone. Nothing was changing that.
"We'll see about that." Caius hums, sensing that Felix had just arrived. He wanted to know this mans true intentions and luckily for him, Aro was in the castle.
"Grab him." Caius smirks down at the man before he strode towards the castle. He can hear the man struggling against the guard's grip. How foolish.

Caius leads the group as they walk through the castle, his shoes clanking against the marbled floor. The walk towards the throne room was long and terrifying for the nomad. It's almost as if he was walking into deaths gates. Caius opens the doors, catching Aro's eye. The leader raises a brow, glancing over at the man who was being dragged in. It's not the first time that Caius has dragged in random vampires but his intention was always the same. Find out what they want. Aro knew what was wanted of him and with no questions asked, he obliged. As Aro slides his hand into the nomad's palm, grasping it tightly, his eyes fall shut.
"It seems that you weren't just exploring as you had claimed, hm?" Aro snaps his eyes open, grasping this man's hand a little tighter than before. The nomad looked terrified, his eyebrows furrowed together. His name was Abram. Abram was only 2 or 3 years dead and was from a small coven. It was stupid of his coven to send him here. Did they think they would catch a glimpse of Alora and live?
"I didn't know you were so invested in our coven. Would you like to share why you're really here?" Aro already knew why this man was here but he just wanted to see him struggle as he thought of what to say.

"T-the Volturi are hypocritical! A human knows about us!" Abram shouts, letting his eyes fall on Caius who only stands there with a subtle smirk. It was funny. Caius must have the gift of telling the future since he knew this would happen.
"And what were you going to do about it, hm?" Caius sneers, leering at the man. The blonde wasn't afraid of this feeble minded man but the fact that he even walked this earth pissed him off. Looking at this nomad made him want to murder the entire town. Caius wanted to go insane just like he was born to do. But sadly, someone steps in before he could lash out.
"My dear, what you were trying to do is... what was the word? Treason. Shall we decide a punishment?" Aro smiles, turning his back to the enemy and glancing over at his brothers. It was easy to predict what this man was thinking and without a second thought, they both nodded their heads, giving Aro permission. Slowly but surely, Aro turns back around, placing his hands on Abram's cheeks.
"What are you doing?" Abram gasps, attempting to cower away. It was a silly little scene. Caius couldn't help but let out a quiet snicker as this vampire panicked.

"We've decided on your punishment. Thank you for visiting us." As soon as he speaks, Aro twists his hands. A loud crack can be heard, along with screams and the snapping of arms.

The punishment for treason was death.

And as Caius watched the scene unfold, he finally caught a whiff of the sweet scent of blood. Human blood. The reflection of the burning flame could be seen in his eyes as he slowly turns his head, dreading the presence that was hidden behind a pillar across the room.

Alora had seen it all.
