Considering the fact this was meant to be my day off, being called in had been the most useless waste of my time. We had nothing to work on, so it was impossible to see why calling me in had been a good use of already scarce funds. So far I'd sat at my desk and twiddled my thumbs when I could have been home twiddling my-
My phone started ringing, and I was a little surprised to see the contact on my screen. While I might not have anything else to do, if O'Neill walked in on me taking a personal call, I would be fucking crucified and she was due to come back around at any moment.
"Kory, now is not the time-"
"You want to meet my team?" Oh, that was an interesting thing to ask me. "What are you doing right now?"
"A whole lot of nothing." And I was more than just a little bored. It should be illegal to call people in during an emergency and make them sit around doing nothing just in case their skills could come in handy. Honestly, if I was needed that bad I could have just done the work remotely. "I got called in for this bomb threat but we don't have anything to work with so I'm just sitting here waiting for-"
"I'm currently out in the field, but we could use your help." Oh thank God, I really needed to do something before I lost my mind. "Our analyst is about to be absolutely drowned with footage and she's going to need help to go through it. You up to the task?"
My breath shook as I thought it over. Working with Penelope Garcia was a terrifying thought. Stories made it through the vine about Garcia, what she was capable of... "Kory, I don't think I'm on the same level as Garcia. I-"
"Cait, do you know what Hotch finds attractive? People who are good at their jobs."
I knew telling Kory I found her boss attractive would be a stupid fucking idea, and yet I did it anyway. When I gave her that information, I never imagined she might use it against me, especially in the way she had.
Agent Aaron Hotchner had been part of the BAU for years, and had been unit chief for almost as long as Spencer had been part of the unit. He had a son, spent time as part of a SWAT unit, was sniper trained, was a prosecutor before joining the Bureau...
How was I not meant to be attracted to that man?
"You are not using my horniness against me," I whispered in what we both knew was an empty threat. Even if I wanted to make her pay, there wasn't a way I'd beat her in any kind of fight. And as much as I wanted to meet her team, this wasn't an ideal time for me while I looked like a fucking mess. Especially not if I had any hope of getting anywhere with Aaron Hotchner.
"You know where my floor is, Reid will be there somewhere." Great, so even if I told Kory I wouldn't do it she would force me into it anyway. Damn it. "Find him and he'll take you to Garcia's office after he introduces you to Hotch, okay? Just... Just promise me that you won't make me look bad." Was she really going to put this back on me? Honestly, I should have seen that coming. "I'm putting myself out on the line for you, so you better pull your best work out of your ass or so help me-"
