1 Week Later
Mid September

Ryan mists the setting spray on her makeup just as the doorbell rings.

She rushes to the door and greets Mickey.

"Hi." She smiles. "Come in."

"Hi." Mickey smiles handing her a bouquet of pink lilies. "These are for you."

"Thank you. Lilies are my favorite flower." She smiles taking the flowers and placing them in a vase.

The universe lead Mickey the right way once again.

They sit on the couch, drink wine and engage in small talk for a while.

When Ryan is adequately tipsy, she relaxes a bit.

"Can I ask you something?" Ryan wonders.

"Sure. What's up?"

"You and Nova's dad aren't together, right?"

"Not at all." Mickey laughs. "He's my best friend. We had sex once and now Nova exists. We're both gay and I'm extremely single."

"Well I'm glad Nova exists. She's really special." Ryan says.

It's clear Mickey loves her daughter and actually nurtures her.

Some of Ryan's other students don't have parents that care that much.

"She's the best part of me." Mickey says softly. "Do you want kids one day?"

"I definitely do. When I find the right woman. Do you want more?" Ryan asks.

"When I find the right woman." Mickey chuckles.

Both of them feel like they've found her.

"Can I be honest with you?" Ryan asks after taking a gulp of her third glass of wine.

"Of course." Mickey says sipping on her 2nd.

"You're are so attractive. I can barely think when I'm around you." She admits with a small laugh.

"Can I be honest back?" Mickey asks.

Ryan's anxiety tells her that she's about to get rejected and she braces herself before saying "Yes."

"Every time I see you, I literally can't sleep. I just lay in bed and think about you all night. You do something to me." Mickey reveals.

"You do something to me. When you were measuring me the other day..." Ryan says trailing off, sipping her wine again.

"What?" Mickey asks.

"My body... reacted to being touched." Ryan admits, embarrassed.

"Mine, too. I had an interesting night that night." Mickey chuckles.

"I've never been this drawn to a woman before." Ryan says.

"We have a connection that I've never felt. I didn't know I could feel so strongly about someone. Especially this quickly." Mickey admits.

Ryan's heart flutters. She loved Gabrielle. They were together 5 years. But she never felt like this.

The Next Day
Mid September.

"So did you hit?" Lay asks stabbing her salad rigorously.

"Hit what?" Ms. Shelly asks entering the back room of the boutique where her granddaughter and her friend are having lunch.

"Nothing." Mickey says quickly.

Ms. Shelly turns to Lay who immediately folds. "She went on a date last night."
