The school was buzzing with excitement, as everyone was preparing for the upcoming program. Dance, singing, acting. Everyone was getting involved. I ended up joining the acting crew for the Romeo and Juliet play, landing the role of Romeo. It was break time, and as usual, I wandered around, not really looking for anything in particular. But then, I stopped in front of a classroom where some dancers were practicing.Curiosity pulled me through the crowd until I got a clear view, and my jaw practically hit the floor.
Harumi was there, of course. But this was a side of him I hadn't seen. His uniform had two or three buttons undone, and sweat glistened on his skin, making him look... attractive. His blond hair was tied back into a small ponytail, with a hairband keeping his bangs off his face. He moved fluidly, teaching the girls some steps with grace and precision.
I stood there, frozen, my eyes glued to him. His shirt clung to his sweaty body, outlining every curve of muscle. I couldn't stop staring. My face felt hot, and just then, Airi tapped my shoulder.
"Uh, Kai? Why are your ears and face so red?" she asked, snapping me out of my trance. I turned back to Harumi, only to find him already looking at me. His breathing was heavy, but the way he stared at me—it felt like he was staring right through my soul.
Shit.
I gulped, taking a step back, then another. Before I knew it, I turned and bolted out of there. I didn't stop until I was locked in the washroom, trying to fan my burning face. "What the hell was that?" I whispered to myself. My heart was still pounding in my chest.

The rest of the day passed in a blur, and before I knew it, it was time to head home. I found myself sitting next to Harumi on the bus, as usual."Hey," I greeted him awkwardly, shifting nervously in my seat, he gave me a small nod in response. I couldn't help but steal glances at him—his eyes, nose, lips... even his neck.
What is wrong with me? I felt like a creep. To hide my embarrassment, I buried my face in my hands. My heart was beating rapidly as I sat next to him. When I glanced over again, his eyes were closed, and he was listening to music, completely unbothered.
The bus eventually pulled up to our stop, and as we got off, I froze, my mind still replaying what happened earlier in the dance room. Harumi had looked so...different. I couldn't shake the image of him out of my head.
"Oi," Harumi's voice broke through my thoughts. He waved a hand in front of my face, frowning. "You alright?"
"Y-Yeah!" I stammered, shaking myself out of it. "I'm fine... totally fine!" I mentally facepalmed. You're so stupid, Kai, I thought to myself.
Harumi raised an eyebrow. "I swear I'm fine" I told him. He shrugged, and we continued walking home when he spoke again. "You came to see the practice earlier, right?" I nodded. "But you didn't look too well. Did something happen?"
My face went red again. "No! Nothing! It's fine, really," I laughed, probably sounding as nervous as I felt.
Harumi just hummed, unconvinced. We walked in silence for a bit until he suddenly stopped in front of a house. "I live here," he said, pointing at it. "See you later."
I nodded, giving him a smile. "Yeah, later."
As soon as Harumi was out of sight, I crouched down, hiding my face in my hands. "What is wrong with me?" I whispered, my mind replaying everything that had happened that day.
Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice behind me. "Oi, why are you begging in the streets?" My sister, Yuki, stood in front of me.
"I wasn't!" I protested, but she shot me a playful smirk.
"Ohhh, is it a girl then? Why are you blushing so hard? You literally turned into a tomato! BAHAHAHA!"
We started arguing back and forth, her teasing making me even more flustered.
