I sat in class, eyelids drooping at my professor's low monotone. I looked over at Emma. My friend was having a hard time paying attention too. She was doodling in the margin of her notebook, a vacant look in her eyes.
My bag vibrated on the floor beneath me. Trying to be discreet, i pulled my phone out and peeked at the screen. I grinned.
"A message from your new friends?" Emma asked, looking over to me. She hadn't quite took the news well about me and Victoria's friends. Now, she seem even more suspicious.
A student sitting in front of us turned and glared at us. I hushed Emma.
"Of course. I see you're their new play thing. Should have known Victoria was a player," Emma said, quieter this time.
"She's not a player," I defended. I knew she had a boyfriend and all, and getting with me, or whatever this is seems a bit, well, not exactly decent. But let's face it, Jim's trash.
"Right. So, she didn't sleep with you while she has her own boyfriend. I thought she was straight."
"She didn't sleep with me," I unlocked my phone to read the message.
Lunch. My table. V.
Sure, I send. I thought for a moment and typed. you sure it's a good idea? My finger hovered over the send button. I erased the message.
"Has your mom called? Is Chris okay?"
I hesitated. " Er, no, not exactly. "
She frowned. " What do you mean not exactly? Is something wrong? Did something happen at the hospital? "
I quickly shook my head. "what? No! Of course not, what makes you think that?"
She gave me a flat look. " Alright Mel, out with it. What happened?"
I groaned, slamming my head against the desk top. Damn Emma for having such good people reading skills.
Sighing, I finally gave in. "Chris... The doctors are saying there's a chance he might not wake up.''
Emma stared, gaping. " What? Oh my god, Melanie that's terrible—
"Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Jones, if your are quite done," professor Bates said.
" If you are not interested in what I have to teach, you're free to leave and take your chitchatting elsewhere."
Emma straightened in her seat. " Oh, sorry professor, we're listening. "
" Hm."
I resumed my doodling, sketching a dog. At least, what I hoped was a dog. The whole thing all felt so bizarre. I mean, it should seem normal now that I know supernaturals exist. But if the cause of this was me, then what does that make me? A witch? If so... Then what did I do?
Can I reverse it and how?

Lunchtime rolled around and me and Emma made our way to the cafeteria.
"Finally," Emma said. "I thought that class would never end."
" Me too. I can't wait to see Victoria."
" Seriously? That's what you're thinking about? I thought your brother was in a coma. I will never understand you."
I groaned. Emma's right, I should be more concerned for my brother's well being rather than my next meet up with Victoria and her gang. I needed to reverse the curse, or whatever the hell I did to Chris and Stefanie.
We walked along the food Isle, trying to decide what to eat. Emma chose her usual pick of food. Sandwich and a bowl of chopped fruits. I picked a light meal. I didn't want to seem like a pig in Victoria's eyes.
