The chaos in the schoolyard only intensified. Screams echoed as students ran in every direction, terrified of the cloaked man who seemed to control the very ground beneath their feet. Vines and roots erupted from the earth, wrapping around students, dragging them down and trapping them in a suffocating grasp.
Madhav grabbed Radhika's hand. "We need to get out of here!" he said, pulling her along as they navigated through the panic. Though he had lived a low-profile life, keeping to himself, Madhav had never let his body weaken. He had trained in secret, staying physically strong even though his magic was lost. His strength was far above that of an average human.
But today, strength alone wasn't enough.
As they sprinted across the schoolyard, trying to avoid the attacking vines, Madhav heard Radhika gasp. He turned just in time to see one of the roots lunge at her, wrapping tightly around her leg. She screamed and stumbled forward, falling to the ground.
Before Madhav could react, the cloaked man, with his glowing red eyes, appeared in front of them. His voice was low, dripping with malice. "Running won't save you."
With a wave of his hand, Radhika's eyes fluttered closed, and she collapsed, asleep in the clutches of the vines.
"No! Radhika!" Madhav shouted, lunging forward to grab her, but the man blocked his path.
Vines wrapped around Madhav's arms and legs, pulling him back and pinning him to the ground. He struggled against the binding plants, but no matter how hard he tried, his strength wasn't enough. The more he fought, the tighter they constricted.
The cloaked man stepped closer, a wicked smile on his face. "You're strong, but not strong enough."
"Who... are you?" Madhav gasped, barely able to breathe as the vines tightened around his chest.
The man's smile widened. "I am Jara, a servant of the 7 cursed demons. We exist to enact revenge on the gods who betrayed us." His voice became more intense as he leaned down toward Madhav and Radhika. "Tell me—where is the medallion?"
Madhav blinked in confusion. "Medallion? I don't know what you're talking about!"
Jara scowled, his eyes shifting to Radhika's unconscious form. "Does she know? Where is it?"
Radhika, barely able to comprehend what was happening, stirred slightly but remained unconscious.
"We don't know!" Madhav shouted, struggling against the vines. "We don't have this medallion or whatever!"
Jara's eyes narrowed. "Then you're of no use to me and my masters"
Madhav is pissed, but in his mind, he kept thinking about the same thing... Jara? Cursed demons? The words sparked a faint memory in his mind, something from his past life, long buried. But before he could make sense of it, the weight of his defeat crushed him. He glanced at Radhika, still unconscious, and felt a deep desperation rise within him.
In his previous life, Madhav had been Narakasura, and it was Lord Krishna and Satyabhama who had ended his reign of terror. But now, powerless and trapped, Madhav did something he hadn't done in centuries: he begged.
"Lord Krishna... Mother Satyabhama... if you can hear me, help me. please"
For a moment, there was only silence. The vines continued to constrict around Madhav, his vision blurring from the lack of air. But then, something stirred deep within him, a spark igniting in his soul. It wasn't a full return of his powers—he could feel that—but it was something.
A rush of energy surged through him, and with a roar of determination, Madhav felt the vines crack under the pressure. The roots that had bound him snapped as his hands burst free, glowing faintly with an otherworldly power. His old magic had returned, but it was different now—a limited resource, like a battery he could draw from for only a short time.
As he rose to his feet, Jara's confident expression faltered. Madhav's eyes had transformed, the pupils now glowing with a sun-like pattern that radiated a fearsome energy. Jara stepped back, eyes wide in terror.
"The Eye of the Demon King..." Jara whispered, trembling. "That... that's impossible. Only demons who matched Indradev himself wielded that power, how can a mere human have such power?"
Madhav's gaze hardened as he stepped forward. "Had it been the my past life, you would be begging and crying for mercy."
Jara, realizing the truth in those words, dropped to his knees, his voice quivering. "Who??..Who are you??"
"No point of telling you, as this very moment will be your end" Madhav's eyes glowed brighter, the raw power of the Demon King surging through him. His heart raced as he felt the limits of his strength rapidly approaching. This power wouldn't last long. He had only a brief window.
"This," Madhav said, his voice filled with excitement, "I missed this feeling"
With a final burst of energy, he shattered the remaining vines holding him and Radhika captive. But as the power drained from him, he knew this battle wasn't over.
