Madhav's first memory was a strange one for a newborn. He remembered the dark abyss, a timeless void before his rebirth. As he opened his eyes in this new world, memories of a past life flickered in his mind—the life of Narakasura. He didn't have access to his powers anymore, and though that left him frustrated at first, over time, he had made peace with it. But one question haunted him: "Why have I been reincarnated? What is my purpose now?"
As a child, Madhav quickly realized his situation. While his parents cooed over him, unaware of the ancient soul trapped in a young body, Madhav quietly observed the world around him. Every attempt to use the magic he once commanded failed. He no longer felt the surge of power, and over the years, he resigned himself to living without it.
"I don't need the power," he often thought. "But why... why was I brought back if not for that?"
Years passed, and Madhav learned to laugh, to play, and to fit in, Yet somewhere the confusion of his reincarnation never left him.
At 18, Madhav had become a reserved and thoughtful young man. He had now made peace with his powerless existence. School was ordinary, and though he maintained a low profile, there was one person who broke through his emotional barriers—Radhika, his junior.
Radhika, with her bright smile and curious mind, was the only person who Madhav opened up to. They often sat together during class, though Madhav never expressed his gratitude. On one such day, they were working on a project in the library. Radhika glanced at Madhav, sensing something different about him.
"Madhav, you're always so... quiet. Like your mind's somewhere else. What do you keep thinking about?" she asked softly.
Madhav looked up from his notebook, offering a half-smile. "I guess I think about life a lot. Why things happen."
She raised an eyebrow. "You're such a mystery. Most people just go with the flow."
"I wish I could tell you", Madhav thought. But he simply shrugged and went back to his notes.
While Madhav was left wrestling his memories of his past as the Asura overlord, he runs past an odd figure, a mysterious man wearing a black cloak, stood leaning against a light pole, his eyes being glaringly red. "St. Mary's...huh?" The man spoke to himself, before walking away to somewhere unknown.
That night, Madhav's sleep was plagued by dreams of darkness, though this time, it felt different. He could sense the presence of the Man, lurking nearby. But unlike the remnants of his own past, this darkness was foreign to him.
The next day, Madhav arrived at school, his mind still unsettled from the strange dreams. He sat through his classes, trying to ignore the feeling of unease creeping over him. As the day wore on, the sky grew unnaturally dark, and a cold wind swept across the schoolyard.
Madhav and Radhika sat under their usual tree during lunch. She shivered, hugging herself against the sudden chill. "It's weirdly cold today, don't you think?"
Madhav nodded, his eyes scanning the horizon. Something's not right, he thought.
Suddenly, Roots of plants tore through the school, sending students running in all directions. The shadowy figure appeared at the center of the chaos, its eyes glowing with the same red glint, the eyes give off a evil glint.
Madhav stood frozen, his heart pounding in his chest. But unlike his dreams, the man paid him no mind—He looked left and right, screaming to the students "where is the medallion?".
Radhika grabbed his arm, fear etched across her face. "Madhav, what's happening?!"
"I... I don't know," he stammered, the confusion deepening.
The man moved closer to the school's main building, seemingly drawn to a hidden force. Madhav felt the urge to help, but without his powers, he was just another helpless student.
"Why now? What is this medallion?" His thoughts raced as the chapter of his reincarnation began to unfold, with more questions than answers.
To be continued...
