Krit had been meticulously planning this night for weeks. He wasn’t the romantic type, or so he kept telling himself, but Vel had a way of bringing out a softer side in him. After everything they’d been through this month unstoppable work , Vel having no time for himself, Krit taking care of Vel. —Krit wanted to show Vel just how much he meant to him. Not with grand words, but with actions, a night that Vel would never forget.

The air was cool but comfortable, and Krit led Vel up the quiet hill just outside the city, where the sky stretched wide, unobstructed by the city's lights. Vel, naturally, was skeptical.

“Krit, what is this?” Vel asked, his voice carrying that familiar hint of exasperation. “You’ve had me blindfolded for ten minutes. I’m starting to feel ridiculous.”

Krit couldn’t help but grin, even though Vel couldn’t see it. “Patience, Vel. We’re almost there.” He gave Vel’s hand a reassuring squeeze.

Vel let out a dramatic sigh. “If I trip and break my nose, I’m blaming you.”

“I’ll catch you,” Krit teased. “I’m good at that, remember?”

Vel muttered something under his breath, but Krit just chuckled. A few more steps and they reached the top. Krit gently guided Vel to a stop and stood beside him, excitement buzzing in his chest.

“Alright, you can take it off now.”

Vel pulled off the blindfold and blinked as his eyes adjusted to the dim, twinkling lights around them. His breath caught in his throat. Spread out before him was a cozy picnic scene—soft blankets, plush pillows, and fairy lights strung between the surrounding trees, casting a warm, intimate glow. A lantern flickered at the center, giving the clearing a magical, almost otherworldly feel. Above them, the stars were bright and clear, like tiny diamonds scattered across a velvet sky.

Vel turned to Krit, stunned. “You… did this?”

Krit shifted, a little embarrassed by the sudden attention. “Yeah. I figured… we could use a night off. Just the two of us.”

Vel’s tough exterior softened, and a rare, genuine smile crept across his lips. “This is… incredible, Krit. I didn’t know you had this in you.”

Krit feigned offense, placing a hand on his chest. “Are you saying I’m not capable of being romantic?”

Vel chuckled, the sound low and warm. “I’m just saying it’s a surprise. You don’t usually go for the grand gestures.”

“Maybe you’re worth making an exception for,” Krit said, his voice softer now, more sincere.

Vel looked at him for a long moment before walking over to the blanket and sitting down. He patted the spot beside him. “Well, come on then. I want to see what else you’ve got.”

Krit laughed and joined Vel on the blanket. “You’ll love it. I packed all your favorites.” He opened the basket, pulling out containers of grilled chicken, fresh fruit, and a bottle of wine. Vel watched, amused, as Krit carefully set everything up.

“Since when did you become a picnic expert?” Vel teased, picking up a piece of fruit and popping it into his mouth.

Krit shrugged, pouring them each a glass of wine. “I’m full of surprises.”

They ate together, the silence between them comfortable and easy. Vel leaned back, resting on his elbows as he watched the stars. “You didn’t have to do all this, you know.”
