The campus was buzzing with excitement as the semester break finally began. Both the management and finance departments were ready to relax and celebrate after weeks of grueling exams. Clubs, bars, and every hangout spot in the city were about to be packed with students looking to blow off steam.

Vel Naret, captain of the finance department’s football team, was one of the last people to plan for wild parties. He much preferred quiet nights, his mind set on working toward the next goal in life, rather than wasting time in loud, overcrowded places. But this time, it was different. Sai, his best friend, had been acting unusually secretive lately, sneaking out and constantly texting someone.

"Who are you dating, Sai?" Vel finally asked, catching Sai red-handed typing away on his phone.

Sai glanced up with a mischievous grin, clearly enjoying his own little mystery. "Well, I’m seeing someone, actually… and he’s from your department."

Vel frowned, not expecting this. "From finance?"

Sai nodded, his eyes lighting up. "Yeah, his name is Pon. We’ve been hanging out for a while, and we’re thinking of making things official."

Vel paused, the name ringing a distant bell. Pon? He hadn’t realized Sai had been spending so much time with him.

"Wait," Vel said slowly, "Pon? I think I’ve heard his name around... he’s a good guy .  right?"

Sai smiled wider. "Yeah, he’s awesome. You’ll get to know him better soon because we’re throwing a party tonight at the club, and you’re invited."

Vel tried to hide his groan. A club was the last place he wanted to be, but for Sai’s sake, he agreed to go.

The club

That night, the club was packed. Music thumped through the walls, neon lights flashing across the room as students from both departments filled the space. Drinks were flowing, and laughter echoed throughout as everyone seemed eager to leave the stress of the semester behind.

Vel walked in with Sai, already feeling out of place among the crowd. He scanned the room until his eyes landed on Sai’s date—Pon, standing by the bar. Sai was right—Pon was a good-looking guy, with a kind smile and a laid-back energy that was hard not to like. Vel approached them and exchanged quick introductions, giving Pon a polite nod.

"You must be Pon. Sai talks about you a lot," Vel said, trying to keep things casual.

Pon chuckled. "Same goes for you. I’ve heard plenty about Vel, the untouchable finance captain."

Vel raised an eyebrow, not sure how to feel about that title. "Well, now you know I’m not untouchable."

Just as Vel started to settle into the conversation, a familiar voice cut through the noise behind him.

"Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up."

Vel didn’t have to turn around to know who it was. Krit Kitkaruwannakul—the bane of his existence, standing right behind him with that cocky grin.

Vel clenched his jaw, silently cursing his luck. Of course, Krit had to be here too. Before he could reply, Pon interrupted with an easy smile.

"Krit! Glad you could make it."

Vel blinked in surprise, glancing between the two of them. Krit… and Pon? Krit was Pon’s best friend? How did he not know this?

Pon looked between Vel and Krit, clearly sensing the tension but brushing it off. "Sai and I invited everyone close to us. You guys know the deal."
