Days later, when Annika's symptoms didn't improve, Shivaay insisted she see a doctor. Reluctantly, she agreed. As they sat in the waiting room, Shivaay held her hand tightly. "You'll be fine," he reassured her.
Annika managed a weak smile but felt anxious about what the doctor might say. After what felt like an eternity, they were finally called in.
The doctor conducted a series of tests and asked numerous questions about Annika's symptoms. After reviewing the results, he looked at them with a knowing smile.
"Well, Annika," he began gently, "it appears you're pregnant!"
The words hung in the air for a moment as Annika processed what she had just heard. Her heart raced with shock and disbelief. "Pregnant? Are you sure?"
The doctor nodded reassuringly. "Yes! Congratulations! It seems you're about six weeks along."
Shivaay's eyes widened in surprise and joy as he squeezed Annika's hand tighter. "Wow! This is incredible!"
Annika felt a whirlwind of emotions—happiness mingled with uncertainty about how this would change their lives once again. "But I was just getting my business back on track..."
"Your health comes first," Shivaay reminded her softly. "We'll figure this out together."
That evening at home, Annika sat on the couch with Shivaay beside her. The news still felt surreal as they began discussing their future.
"What does this mean for your business?" Shivaay asked gently.
"I don't know," Annika admitted honestly. "I love planning weddings and helping couples create their dream days, but I also want to be there for our baby."
Shivaay wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "You don't have to choose one over the other. You can take it slow—maybe focus on smaller events for now while you adjust to this new chapter."
Annika nodded thoughtfully. "That makes sense... Maybe I can build my business around being a mom too? Offer family-friendly services or even plan baby showers!"
"See? You're already thinking creatively!" Shivaay encouraged her.
As they talked late into the night about their dreams and plans for their growing family, Annika felt comforted by Shivaay's unwavering support.
"I can't believe we're going to be parents again," she said softly.
Shivaay smiled warmly at her. "And we'll do it together—just like we always have."
In that moment of shared dreams and hopes for their future, Annika knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them side by side—bound by love and an unbreakable bond as they prepared to welcome another little miracle into their lives.
The next evening, the family gathered in the cozy living room, the warm glow of the lamps casting a soft light. Annika and Shivaay exchanged glances, a mix of excitement and nervousness swirling in the air. They had decided it was time to tell Arush about the new addition to their family.
"Hey, buddy!" Shivaay called out, beckoning Arush to join them from his room.
Arush bounded in, his usual energy radiating through the space. "What's up? You guys look serious!"
Annika knelt down to his level, her heart racing. "We have something really special to tell you."
"What is it?" Arush asked, eyes wide with curiosity.
Shivaay sat next to Annika on the couch. "Well, remember how we talked about family and how it can grow?"
Arush nodded slowly, his brow furrowing in concentration.
Annika took a deep breath. "Well... you're going to be a big brother!"
Arush's eyes widened even more, disbelief etched across his face. "Wait, what? A big brother?"
"Yes!" Shivaay said, grinning from ear to ear. "You're going to have a little sibling."
Arush jumped up, a huge smile breaking across his face. "This is amazing! Can I help take care of them? Will they play basketball with me? Will it be a boy or a girl?"
Annika laughed, her heart swelling with joy at his enthusiasm. "Well, we don't know yet if it's a boy or a girl. But you can definitely help take care of them!"
"Can we have a party to celebrate?" Arush asked, practically bouncing on his feet.
"Of course!" Shivaay replied. "We can have a gender reveal party soon."
"Yesss!" Arush cheered, throwing his fists in the air. "This is going to be the best!"
As Arush ran off to share the news with his friends, Annika and Shivaay exchanged proud smiles. They were filled with hope and excitement for what lay ahead.
Few days passed and excitement settled into their daily lives, Annika found herself facing an unexpected challenge—morning sickness. What had started as mild nausea quickly turned into bouts of discomfort that lingered throughout the day.
One morning, she woke up feeling particularly unwell. As she sat on the edge of the bed, she felt waves of dizziness wash over her.
"Annika?" Shivaay's voice broke through her thoughts as he entered the room with a worried expression. "Are you okay?"
"I don't feel great," she admitted weakly, resting her head in her hands.
Shivaay rushed to her side, kneeling beside her. "Let me help you. What do you need?"
"A ginger ale might help..." she murmured.
Few weeks later, the living room transformed into a festive space filled with balloons and decorations in shades of pink and blue. Friends and family gathered, buzzing with anticipation.
"Are you ready for this?" Shivaay asked Annika as they set up the final touches.
"Absolutely! I can't wait to find out," she replied, her excitement bubbling over.
They had decided to keep the gender a surprise until the party. A large cake adorned with question marks stood at the center of the table, waiting for the big reveal.
As guests mingled, Arush darted around, showing off his excitement. "I think it's going to be a boy!" he declared confidently to anyone who would listen.
"I think it's a girl!" chimed in one of his friends. "Girls are awesome!"
Finally, it was time for the reveal. Annika and Shivaay stood together in front of everyone, holding a large balloon filled with either pink or blue confetti.
"On the count of three!" Shivaay announced, holding Annika's hand tightly.
"One... two... three!"
They both popped the balloon simultaneously, and pink confetti burst forth, showering everyone in vibrant hues. Gasps and cheers filled the room as everyone celebrated.
"It's a girl!" Arush shouted excitedly, jumping up and down. "I'm going to have a little sister!"
Tears of joy filled Annika's eyes as she embraced Shivaay tightly. "A daughter," she whispered in disbelief. The thought of having a little girl sent waves of emotion through her.
