Y/n's POV

I get released early enough in the morning from the police station that when I get home Mako and Bolin are still fast asleep. I turn on the radio quietly and hear the avatar's speech.

„Hello, I'm Korra. Your new avatar." she starts. A bunch of journalists ask her questions.

„Yes I am definitely here to stay, but honestly I-I don't exactly have a plan yet. See, I am still in training. But look, all I know is that avatar Aang meant for this city to be the center of peace and balance in the world and I believe we can make his dream a reality. I look forward to serving you. I am so happy to be here! Thank you Republic city." the crowd erupts in cheers.

Hearing her voice makes butterflies erupt in my stomach. Her name is Korra – a beautiful name. All of the events of yesterday flash through my mind. I try to calm myself down. Then I think of Mako and Bolin. I need to make up missing their match. I know they usually sleep until noon when they don't need to work or workout. I decide to make Tuyen's Lok Mei soup, because I know both Bolin and Mako love it. I have made it a couple times in the past, but only for special occasions or when one of my brothers was sick.

I rush to the market to buy the needed ingredients and herbs. When I return home I still hear loud snores coming out of Bolin and Mako's bedroom. I still can't figure out how those two can sleep through all that noise. Cooking the soup takes a couple hours, so I get started right away. This will definitely soften the blow, when I tell them I was at the police station. Shortly after noon, like I predicted, Mako and Bolin come out of their room, rubbing their eyes and yawning. They look up at me at the same time. Bolin runs up to me and hugs me, while Mako crosses his arms and pouts.

„Y/n! We missed you yesterday. Where were you? We were so worried. Pabu didn't know where to sit. He missed sitting on your shoulder." Bolin looks back at Mako, signaling for him to come over. Pabu squeaks at the mention of his name.

„Yeah! You missed our match." Mako walks over slowly but never uncrosses his arms.

„I am so sorry I missed it, but I got held up at the police station as..." I start.

„The police station!" both Mako and Bolin exclaim.

„As a witness" I interject. „They just needed some information about a robbery that happened, when I went for a run. Nothing to worry about. Now tell me how the match went."

I felt bad about lying, but the truth would have only worried them. I also want to keep what happened between Korra and I to myself for a little while longer. Bolin seems to accept my explanation, but Mako still acts suspicious.

„We won! And we worked together as a team seamlessly." Bolin puffs out his chest proudly.

„So, a witness?" Mako changes the conversation back to the subject I am trying to avoid. „You had nothing to do with the robbery or gang related activities?"

„No, Mako! I told you, I have left all of that behind. Just like you and Bo." I explain. „But let's not waste any more time. I made my special soup as an apology for missing the match and to get you guys ready for tonight's match."

Mako finally agrees and also gives me a hug. When we sit down to eat the soup Mako and Bolin tell me about every last detail of the match. They really took my lesson from yesterday's practice to heart. I am so proud of them.

I spend the next two hours working out in the gym of the pro bending arena. I did some agility exercises and finished with practicing fighting techniques on the dummy. I couldn't focus, because my mind kept replaying yesterday's events. Then Mako, Bolin and Azuk walk into the gym. I see Mako and Azuk arguing. I walk over to the three pro benders, to be able to listen in on their conversation.
