Asuka and I exited the cafeteria and were immediately met with a tall boy and girl walking out of the changing room across the hallway. I can't help but feel as though I knew the boy from somewhere.

“Hey y'all!” Asuka greeted them, pulling me along as they approached them. The girl had a straight face and the boy looked annoyed.

“Greetings,” the girl greeted us. The boy said nothing.

“Sorry, he’s just excited,” I informed them with a nervous chuckle, gently shaking Asuka's hand off my wrist. That same hand was shoved in their pants pocket, and the other hand extended forward for one of the others to shake.

“Nice to meet you both, I’m Kazuya Fukuyama,” I gestured to my sash. “I'm the Ultimate Boy Scout.”

“Name's Asuka Matsumoto!” he followed. The girl immediately took their hand and shook, as the boy seemed reluctant to even breathe near us. “I don't remember my talent, so for now just assume I don't have one.”

“So, I should assume you're from the Reserve Course?” the girl asked. “Right, then. Got it.”

Now that's something I've never heard before, as my digging on this school was very brief. Honestly, I haven’t even heard it through word of mouth. What's the Reserve Course?

Reserve Course?” I tilted my head. “What's that?”

“The Reserve Course is a system created by Hope’s Peak Academy to give ordinary kids an opportunity to attend the school,” she explained. “You take a long test, and if you pass it, it'll cost a hefty amount of money to actually enter HPA. Of course, that's if you still want to go.”

“The test is about 6 pages long, but I don't exactly know how many questions there are. It’s all hand-written,” she added.

Asuka nodded and smiled. “Wow, so that means I'd have to be pretty smart! I take that as a compliment! My name is Asuka Matsumoto, and I'm from the Reserve Course!”

“That makes you really happy doesn't it?” The girl crossed her arms, “It's a bit amusing.”

“Yep, it does! But anyway, who are you?”

Kenshin Kanzaki.”

Kenshin? But that's a–”

“Male’s name,” she interrupted. “I know.”

“Asuka!” I gasped. “D-Don’t just say that to people..!”

“Sorry, I was just makin' an observation…”

“It's quite alright, I'm not exactly offended,” she replied. “I liked the name so I kept it. Simple as that.”

“Oh! Sick!” Asuka gave a thumbs up.

“Ohh, I get it. Well, it's nice to meet you,” I smiled.

“Naturally,” she said a little high-handedly. “By the way, if it's of any importance to you, I am the Ultimate Chef. I am particular about punctuality, so do not drag me down or waste my time.”
