[SABRES POV]
I clung to the brown bark of the tree. The roughness of the bark hurt my fingers as it practically grated against my skin and scraped against my thick leather gloves. Sweat poured down my face as I tried my best to slow my racing heartbeat, to stop my lungs from breathing so hard it felt as if the air itself had begun to choke me.
My nails dug into the bark as much as they could- the small cuts from the thorns having scabbed over. Thin green threads from the tears in my hoodie clung to my skin like bits and pieces of a spiderweb I had walked through. My hands ached as I climbed higher- praying that the rushing wind disguised my ascent with the loud rustling of the tree leaves. I still saw the bright yellow light of that humanoid that had been searching for me. There could be more- so I had to get further. But not yet.As I broke the thick canopy that was delicately weaved from the leaves of the trees overtime to shield the forest floor below from the scorching sunlight, I gasped for air. I was exhausted and my ankle constantly sent wave after wave of pure and unbridled AGONY throughout my leg. My arms burned from climbing the tree- there was crimson red blood encrusted in my messy brown hair.
The hoodie I wore only made the unbearable heat worse, the shade from the roof of the forest had shielded me from most of the unbearable heat and blinding light.I shakily stood, somehow able to stand on the thick and sturdy forest canopy made of interlocking branches and growing leaves. I still felt the adrenaline rushing through my veins- so I ran. I didnt hesitate leaping from tree to tree, it came naturally- as if I had done this time and time again- like a ritual that now came to me as muscle memory. It was thrilling- calming the jittery fear that had enveloped my entire being since I had woke up.
Slowly- the unbearable sunlight dimmed into a soothing warmth as the sun slowly descended in the sky. The dark gray clouds assisting to block out the sun, similar to how the forest canopy had.Leaping from tree to tree was fun, the air rushing past my face was a nice feeling. The crunching of the leaves under my feet was satisfying- feeling the canopy dip and falter under my weight before I moved on. A grin made its way onto my face, the thrill and adrenaline had been almost enough to drown out the burning sensation that originated from my ankle and spread through my veins- into my muscles, and engraved itself into my very bones. The injury made itself known in a very rude way, by making my entire leg weak. Occasionally I had faltered, almost falling into the dark forest once more- but I hadn't yet.
I definitely spoke too soon, didn't I?
Yep.
I did.I was about to fall. Wasn't I?
As I stepped on a particularly weak part of the canopy- I was about to leap off- up into the air- and land on a different section. It most likely would've worked-mid it weren't for my terrible luck so far rearing its ugly head and punching me in the face, because as I crouched down, I found myself unable to push myself up into the air, my leg giving out underneath me.
And down through the canopy I went.I yelled out- no- more like screeched like a terrified chicken as I fell, branches whacking me in the face and leaves finding themselves stuck in my hair before falling out. My leg screamed at me as I landed on it. I muttered a few curses under my breath as I crumpled forwards, groaning. Ughhhhjh
That hurt. A lot.
Everything spun around me. My vision was now blurry- and crimson red blood trickled down my face. I coughed- wheezing, I had been smacked right in the chest by a huge branch on the way down and it HURT. Quite a lot.No one was near me- but with how I screamed there was no doubt they were approaching fast.
I didn't want to be found. I didn't trust nor know any of the people I woke up to. They could very much kill me and I DIDNT WANT TO DIE!
