Gretel woke up with the sun on her cheeks, as she yawned. Stretching.

Squinting her eyes for a moment.. Hmm.. What an odd ceiling, had their house looked this.. Clean?

Gretel and hansel soon came down. Peeking from the stairs.

There was a melodic voice humming, the smell of food wafting through their nose. They had eaten almost all the food they had found on the pot, yet the sound of their stomach aching for more food made them salivate.

"Gretel.. Arent u thinking maybe this is the house of the witch? " hansel whisper in her ear. Trying to peek from their corner to the kitchen.

"I mean, its the only house we found, and were in the center of the forest, we have been walking all day before right? "

Gretel gasp, covering her mouth. "The old ugly witch?! "

It really never crossed her mind, now that hansel said it, it now dawn to her that they might be really in the old witch house. But..

Hansel was stunned at the sight of the woman coming out of the door of the kitchen, carrying a huge pot of delicious food, the smell wafting to them.

"Youre awake! Come on! I cooked breakfast! "

Gretel and hansel stared at her. Eyes wide.

"Youre the witch? " gretels straightforward voice asks, girly and soft. Making annies heart almost warm.

The children seemingly suddenly became shy. Then they both bowed at the same time. "Im sorry we ate your food last night.. We were really hungry"

Her heart melted again at the sight making her almost die of happiness. So adorable!!

"Ohohoho.. No worries, now why dont we introduce each other while we eat breakfast?"

For long years.. It might be one of the few happiest day of her life.

"Oh.. So thats why you came here" she squints her eyes at them. Shaking her head. "But youre father is right.. You dont know how many monster is in the forest. Im surprise u got so lucky to avoid any of them actually, dont do that again"

"Uhuh" hansel nodded with mouth full. "Ill tell dad when we go back"

Gretels mouth pouted. Glaring at her brother. "Stooopiddd! U just say we accidentally went inside ?! "

Seeing them bickering brought a smile to her face. But she knew it was only temporary..

"Children.. " she calls softly. Smiling at them. "Finish your breakfast okay?.. Then ill help u back to find the way.. "

The two look at her., seemingly pouting at the same time.

They lower their head to eat,.. Then hansel suddenly asks. "But. Can we come here again to play? "

She paused. A smile on her lips, looking at the eyes of the boy, she gave a soft smile. ".. Lets see"

But she knew better than to let them in in her life.. What if.. What if someone knew she is a hybrid and would put these children in danger?

She changed the subject. "I also have candies! And sweets , i did them myself" she says proudly. Smiling.

The two nodded and giggled. Finishing their meal fast as they each grab a candy and sweet.

"Thank u so much annie! "

The crescent eyes, and white teeth of these children. Makes her eyes more tender as she look at them.

She knew this is only temporary.. Shes just.. Making the best out of it.
