A/N: hey yall! i'm thinking about keeping a schedule of updating this story once a week on the weekends. (exception for this chapter cuz i had band ovacs last weekend),, but yeah unless otherwise stated, expect a chapter every saturday/sunday :) also this chapter also kinda sucks im sorry 😭 i also didn't have the time to properly proof read it so sorry if there's any mistakes Ill go through it again before starting the next chapter (feel free to point anything out)

Eren had gotten minimal sleep again, but not for the same reasons as usual. He couldn't stop thinking about his new friends, primarily Levi. No one had initiated any type of relationship like that for him in a while, and he greatly appreciated both him and Hange, but Levi specifically just couldn't leave his mind. Maybe it was because he reached out to him and apologized kindly. Maybe it was because he seemed so stoic yet he was caring. Maybe it's because he's hot. Eren shamefully shook his head and tried to drown that out. He isn't the type to be disloyal to his boyfriend or to anyone in general, but it was really hard to deny that Levi is attractive. It's not like it matters, he supposed, it's not like he'll discard Jean and gain feelings for Levi overnight, or ever for that matter. Still though, he felt bad for thinking it in the first place.

Morning did eventually come and despite the amount of sleep he got, Eren was the most energetic he's been in a very long time. He got up earlier than usual and took his time in the shower, caring to look and smell presentable for a change. He really shouldn't be this hyped up over meeting some new people, but can you blame him? The poor kid has gone too long without a friend other than Jean. He wanted to impress them. Speaking of Jean though, he couldn't say he was too thrilled about seeing him in the morning still, but he wasn't going to let it damper his mood. Maybe he and Jean could have a good day for once too. Eren smiled at the thought.

After he finished his shower and picked out his outfit, he didn't have much time left before Jean arrived. He left his room and hobbled downstairs. He was actually excited to get the day started. When his mom heard him trampling down the stairs, she rounded the corridor and seemed surprised to see him.

"Wow, look at you, up all bright and early. I usually have to bang on that door to get you awake when Jean is here," Carla teased, smiling at her son, then slightly gasped before adding "Oh my goodness, Eren! You look so cute today! You aren't wearing your usual bum outfit. What's the special occasion?"

Eren flashed a rare smile back at her despite being slightly offended that his mom said he usually dressed like a bum. "Oh, nothing mom," he dismissed, "just wanted to look nice for once. It feels pretty good." And he wasn't lying; he'd never felt this good about himself. Now he sees why people put time and effort into their appearance when going to school. The only time he'd really put effort was when he hung out with Jean, but that also hadn't been for a hot minute.

Carla frowned at his response. "Aw stop it, you know you don't need to care for any of that, I was just messing with ya," she assured, promptly walking away to finish whatever she was doing before. She added, "you look adorable though," while walking.

Eren shook his head at her, even if it was impossible for her to see it. He admired his outfit for a second longer. He was wearing a pair of baggy light brown jeans followed by a slightly oversized dark brown hoodie with a white shirt underneath combined with white sneakers to complete it. He really didn't think he looked that impressive, especially since the clothes didn't fit him as good as they used to; but he honestly didn't fully trust the opinion of his mother anyway only because it has bias. Either way, he felt pretty good and confident about his attire and appearance and he was really excited to see Levi and Hange.

The time rolled around where Jean stepped in, not even bothering to knock, but he too was surprised to see Eren standing there already out of his room and ready for school. They locked eyes for a split second until Jean's eyes lowered down to check him down. He stared for a good moment and Eren did not fail to notice the red hue that began to occupy Jean's cheeks. Eren smiled brightly upon realizing that he had made Jean flustered, feeling himself heat up as well. If he hadn't felt good about himself before, he definitely did now. All the thoughts of Levi and Hange dissipated now, and he could only think about Jean and what had just happened.
