The time was spent with the two walking and talking to each other about a few things.
Ben found out that Lucy was a Celestial Mage, that can use Spirit Keys to summon Celestial Spirits that each embody the Constellations, have their own special powers, and that she travels around the country and came to Magnolia to join Fairy Tail.
As for Lucy, she found out that Ben was uses regular magic(Major Lie) but has his own strength, speed and other special abilities of his own.
When she asked what his abilities were, he said,
Ben:That's a secret.
She pouted and continued questioning him to get a proper answer, but as the time passed while Ben wasn't budging, she gave up.
Soon enough, the two arrived at the front door of the guild.

Lucy was amazed while Ben was still without emotion.
Lucy:It looks greater that I thought it would!
Ben:I agree. I have seen better. So are you ready?
Lucy:*nod*Hai!
They opened the door....
Whoosh!! Bam!! Bam!! POW!!
....and they saw some many of the guild members fighting each other.
Lucy:💦(0_0)!! W... What the hell?!
Ben:This is certainly.... something.
Lucy:💦💦(0_0)!!! These people are nuts!
WHOOSH!
A chair came flying towards Lucy...
Lucy:💦💦💦(O_O)!!!! EEEEEEK!!
GRAB!
...but Ben caught it before it could hit her, and dropped it on the ground.
Lucy:Whew! Thank you Ben.
He nods then looks at the fighting again.
Lucy:What do we do now? What should we do?
Ben:Don't worry. I can sense that someone is about to handle this.
Lucy:What do you mean-?
STOOOOOMP!
A giant stomped his foot in the middle of the room getting everyone to stop.
