"Are you sure I can have this for so cheap? It was your daughter's and she probably would want to keep it."
"No, she told me before she left anything she left behind I could sell. I'm keeping some things to remember her by anyways!" The woman smiled at you fondly, showing the kind of affection only a mother would to their only child.
"She went to live with her father since he's closer to her college and she wasn't able to get a dorm. I believe the passcode is 389lqvf."
"Oh! Well then, thank you so much! How much did you say again?"
"$42." You reach into your back pocket to get your wallet. It was rather cheap for a laptop that looked so pristine. It couldn't be too old, maybe only a few kilobytes of storage to clear.
Then again she talked about her daughter being in her final teen years. Maybe there would be more to clear than you think, but it's nothing you couldn't spend a few minutes on.
"Shit... I'm a few bucks short. I can pay you back later if that's what you want, but I really need the laptop for school." She only handed you the laptop with the same cheery smile. "No worries, you can just take it. I don't mind. It's only a few dollars."
You couldn't help but grin like a child who was just surprised with gifts from their mother. "Thank you!" Taking the laptop in one hand, you handed the woman 37 dollars -if you counted right- and got on your merry way.
She waved you off as you got into your car, setting the computer in the passenger seat. It wasn't a very far drive to your flat, but it would be too much of a hassle to keep on your lap.
"Weird, the wallpaper is all glitched and pixelated. Maybe the old owner was just into that." You told yourself, heading to look through the search history when something popping up on the screen caught your eye.
A little white text box popped up on the screen with the words "click me" in all caps.
