"Have you heard of it? In the main street, a teen no older than the age of 15 has fallen down a building yesterday, how horrible!"

"Yeah, what a poor child! Why didn't their parents prevent this?"

"I've heard that she was an orphan illegally leaving alone"

"I've heard that her parents sold their body after her death!"

"The police are still investigating the area. But they found out that it was suicide"

"They were still so young. It's really unfortunate"

The mumbled words continued on as the adults were talking.

He wasn't bothered by them. It wasn't something that affected him nor regarded him, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his black school uniform, continuing his way to his middle school. The boy didn't know who had died, thus he brushed it off. It wasn't someone he knew anyway. And soon, it was forgotten by him, deemed as not important enough to think about.

It was the 31st of October. Kids and adults all knew what day it was. Everyone knew what event it was.

Halloween.

Kids would dress up as monsters and mystical creatures created from the human mind, their bags filled with tons of sweets from neighbors, shouting trick-or-treat to every door that had opened to collect sweets. Homes would be decorated with scary decorations and even teens would hide in costumes to scare little kids, walking through the streets in laughter and happiness.

He wasn't.

Bakugo wasn't one of the people that would be satisfied with something as childish as that. Yet when his classmates started to dare each other to visit the haunted house by the main street and claimed that he wouldn't have the guts to do that, the boy found himself standing in front of the lonely house with his classmates shaking in their boots.

Deku wasn't invited. He was quirkless and was isolated from the rest of the class. That's why he didn't come.

He was unbothered by the eerie atmosphere surrounding the building. It was legal to enter since the police had given the house for sale some days prior and allowed visitors. Even adults were avoiding the building in sheer fear while kids started to cry at the presence of it.

He believed that he would gain respect, the cherry on top of this dare.

Thus when he started to step towards the entrance, his classmates entered too.

The first ones were already crying and screaming after they heard the tiles crack beneath their feet, running towards the door and fleeing.

Others held the hands of their friend as they explored the house, carefully arriving at the second floor.

By the time ten minutes had passed, half of his class had peed their pants and ran towards the exit, claiming that they had felt a hand on their neck and seen a scary transparent face coming closer and closer to them.

And when the clock hit 5 p.m., Bakugo was the only one casually walking through the haunted house.

He could barely see anything in the gloomy building. The door knobs always screeched when he turned them and entered every single floor of the first floor. Strangely, there was no furniture nor any sign of someone having lived there.

The silence felt deafening.

His footsteps were the only sound accompanying him when he was at the last door of the second floor, the last door to the end of this dare.
