Strive 207: Ready To Head Back?

Taoreta's Pov

"So, are you guys ready to leave?" Yosei asks us with a bright smile.

Yosei returns ten minutes after Kuma and Jir. I'm happy that we're all back together again, but it seems we haven't found the person who attacked us.

Oh well,

At the very least, we're all safe and sound. The best part of all this is that I get to see Kishi again!

"So, did you find any clues about the missing girl?" Kuma asks curiously.

"Nope! But I DID find this!" With a flick of her wrist, Yosei makes a white string appear in thin air. Wait, that's not a string! It's a piece of hair!

"A piece of white hair!" I say in suspense.

Jir's eyes widen at first, then she turns serious. "Hehe, so you can sense it too, Jir!" Yosei says with a cheeky grin.

"Maybe," Jir nods.

"What do you guys mean?" I ask.

"It's aura. There's aura sparking within that hair," Jir announces while placing her right hand on her hip.

"Aura?" Kuma tilts her head in confusion while folding her arms.

"Correct!~" Yosei sings with joy. Then she turns serious and makes the white hair disappear. "Having your aura around your body is one thing, but having it linger even after it falls off is something different.

This person is a threat to the human race," Yosei replies coldly.

"How could you tell that it's human?" Kuma asks, closing her eyes as a cold sweat runs down her face.

"The DNA shows that it's human—a female at that. The way it's formed proves it as well," Jir says in the most serious voice I've ever heard from her.

"Mages are great at picking up small details, so it's no surprise that Jir figured all of that out before I could even mention it. The hair from animals to humans can be different.

Well, there are some cases where it COULD be similar but nothing more, nothing less," Yosei says with confidence. She looks up cutely yet curiously, "It's like how all mammals can give birth to a baby without having to use eggs to protect them due to the mother being there 24/7. Though there are some exceptions to that rule... not entirely sure, to be honest..."

"Mind explaining what you mean?" I ask.

"I could, but that'll take too long. Plus, it's boring as hell so no thanks!~" Yosei says with a cheerful smile.

"You could've said that without sounding so rude..." Jir replies to Yosei's comment.

"I'm just being honest, Jir!~" Yosei says playfully.

"Sure..." Jir says.

"Anyway, I'll take this back to Dad and then explore some more tonight solo," Yosei explains.

"What?! You're crazy if you think the adults will allow that!" Jir shouts while pointing her left index finger at Yosei.

"No, they will. I'm more experienced than you all combined!" Yosei says with confidence.

"Did you forget that you were lost in this layer a little while back? There's no way Kibun would allow you to go on your own, Yosei," I say with a frown.

"Ah," Yosei widens her eyes in shock and then places her hands behind her head. "Oh yeah..."

"Really?" Jir says while sweating.

"Damn, if that's the case then I won't be able to investigate that girl from before. I'll have to figure out a plan. Not to mention, I won't be able to track down the person who knocked us out," Yosei mentions while placing her hands on her waist and then deeply sighing.

"Well, at any event, at least we got something so there's that—a human with extraordinary powers. Most likely a supernatural. And most likely a female," Yosei explains calmly.
"How do you know that?" I ask curiously.

"Simple. All the males don't exist anymore. Ki is the last survivor," Yosei states bluntly and then looks upwards. "It's sad to know that the last of his kind is now nonexistent. I mean, at least we still have normal human males so if push comes to shove, we all can reproduce."

"I don't like the sound of that, Yosei. Even if it's true..." Jir whispers.
"How else are we supposed to survive out there?" Yosei says with a straight face.

"I know what you meant; just don't say it casually like it's nothing!" Jir shouts with a big blush.

"Well, at any rate, we should head out while we can." I say while placing my right index finger under my lip and then smiling brightly.

"Hmm? Did something happen Tao?" Yosei asks while tilting her head at me curiously.

"Mm? O-oh, something like that, yeah." I say while blushing.

"Hmm?" The three girls blink at me.

"What?" I ask while feeling my face turning red.

"You're thinking about him aren't you?~" the trio says in unison while covering their mouths with their left hands.

"Huh?!" My face turns bright red as I jump back from their action. "W-what brings that up?!" I ask while stuttering.

"So, are we wrong?" Yosei says with a cheeky smile.

"Of course not! I-I uh- listen-!" I want to defend myself but the words get stuck in my throat. I feel my face burning as I continue thinking about Kishi. I look at the ground "L-look, I can't help it, okay? He's the only person I've relied on until recently. Of course I'll think about him..." I whisper while closing my eyes trying not to show my weakness even though it's not working and they can see it written all over my face.
"Anyway, let's head back so we can report our mission!" I say trying to keep cool but my face betrays me by showing blushes.

"Aww, look at her! She's embarrassed!~" Kuma teases.

"It's hard not to fall for someone you've known for a long time!~" Jir teases as well.

"It's like that latest romance novel! You two are very cute together!~" Yosei sings as the other two nod in agreement.

"I want to die...." I say as my eyes swirl around and my world spins. I can't contain myself any longer!

These days my feelings are leaking out!

Someone end my suffering!
