The day of the meeting arrived, and Holly stood in the town’s community center, tapping her foot anxiously. The door swung open, and there he was—Griffin, in a tailored coat, his dark hair tousled by the wind. He flashed that infuriating smile that made her heart race, though she’d never admit it.

“Holly! It’s great to see you again,” he said, his voice smooth as hot cocoa.

“Great? You must have a different definition of great. I’m busy, Griffin, and I don’t need your… organizational prowess messing up my plans.”

“Relax. I’m here to help,” he replied, leaning casually against the wall. “Besides, if I remember correctly, I’ve saved your projects more than once.”

She glared at him, recalling their past. “Only because you couldn’t resist swooping in like some sort of hero.”
