erm hey.. been a while.
just wanted to say why i haven't been writing as of late other than the normal reasons.

on september 26th, hurricane helene hit florida and my specific area horrendously.
my house was flooded, my brothers house was flooded and so was my grandparents.
all of us lost just about EVERYTHING we owned and have yet to even replace half of it and are still working on repairs in general.
when the storm and flood hit, it took power, transformers and trees. we lost power for days.

around 9pm on the 26th me and my family looked outside of our door only to find that the streets were starting to flood which reminded me to get my computer tower off of the floor. within about five minutes of me getting my pc off the floor and onto a table water had begun to flood inside of my house which we then all panicked and started frantically unplugging things.
as i have a panic attack while trying to unplug everything electrical i own, my aunt shut off our house breakers from her closet to cut most of the power. emphasis on most because when i returned to my bedroom, my light was still on.
me and my uncle went into the office where we heard a newly born kitten from our outside cat, "mama" (rip baby you are very missed) we then basically busted open the back door and began trying to save the kitten from drowning.
(yes the kitten was saved and is okay, she found a forever home now)
after multiple panic attacks, my uncle stepped into the kitchen to go down the hallway when he started being but by fire ants as he thought.
when i said we cut MOST power earlier i meant it. the fridge and oven still had power so my uncle was standing in electrified water for minutes on end.
by 11pm, we had shut the main breakers off and stuff was starting to float.
at around 2 in the morning my aunt stepped out front of the house to get a video to send to her friend to update her on our situation when she turned and saw the boat stationary in our front yard no longer stationary and starting to float away, which i was then handed a fat ass kitten and her and my uncle then rushed outside to try and get the boat back on the trailer. within a minute of them running outside i had called my poppop, (grandpa) the owner of the boat who came over with a flashlight and helped for two straight hours to get the boat back. at one point i could hear from outside my aunt scream that there was a fucking ALLIGATOR against her leg and they needed to hurry and go back inside. (she's fine dw)
by about six in the morning the water had made it back down to my ankles, which was a huge difference considering its highest point was about my waist and was around four feet of water.
my bed, somehow dry was where i ended up sleeping at around 7am where i later woke up with crippling and fully body anxiety to the point that i was ready to cry again.
my house was a full wreck and i had to call my mother because i had somehow lost the shorts i was wearing the previous night and no, i don't remember how i lost them. pretty sure i'm wearing them rn actually idk
by noon that day we had torn up all the carpet in the house and moved many things, and the next day we started throwing stuff out.
since then, the house has been fully gutted and we finally got ACTUAL BEDS to sleep in and god my back is so happy.
before a few days ago, we had been sleeping on the dining room floor on little twin sized futon mattresses that my aunts friend bought for the three of us (bless you girl)
we've now started replacing things slowly but surely, but we're now doing okay.

as for hurricane milton, i wasn't in the cone by the time he hit so we made it out almost unscathed and yes, tampa still exists.
the damage from hurricane milton included pretty much half a tree falling, a smashed window, a hole in the roof and i think that's it. oh wait there was a hole in the car port my bad
also btw the winds from hurricane helene ripped open the front door at one point and we've yet to fix or replace the door so we now have to have the deadbolt on if we want it to stay shut which we have to for the cats.
after the adrenaline from gutting the houses died down, the depression has hit all of us insanely hard and sometimes it's hard to stay alive im gonna be honest.
(ty chris, ellie, maggie and kaz for keeping me alive and ty india (my cat) for stopping me a few nights ago)
we're back on our feet and are replacing the fridge and stove soon so we can actually eat good food again.

i do fully plan on trying to throw some chapters out once my new desk chair gets here as i'm not setting up my desk until i get a chair, but my chair comes wednesday as far as i know and i'll try my best to write as much as i can get myself to when it's set up.

thank you all so much for bearing with me since my last chapter and i promise i'll do my best to continue writing but i hope you can understand the past month has been insanely difficult for me and i haven't really gotten around to it yet.

love, cherie.
