'Am I dreaming?' Yang Ming thought, stunned.

He blinked hard, thinking his eyes were playing tricks on him. Just as he was about to rub his eyes, he remembered he was wearing contact lenses—rubbing them would be a bad idea!

'What on earth is happening?' Staring at Zhang Bin's paper, Yang Ming could clearly make out even the tiniest ink smudge. It wasn't a hallucination; everything was crystal clear, far beyond what simple eye strain could cause. When he looked back at his own test paper, the characters appeared so large, as if he were viewing them through a magnifying glass.

As he pondered what was happening, the letters on his paper suddenly returned to their normal size. Yang Ming glanced back at Zhang Bin's paper, but it was once again blurry. 'Was that an illusion?' He shook his head. It couldn't be. The feeling had been too real.

He tried focusing on Zhang Bin's paper again, and once more, the strange phenomenon occurred. His vision zoomed in, bringing the words into perfect clarity.

'What the hell!'

Yang Ming was so excited he almost shouted out loud. He had read countless online novels where ordinary people suddenly gained supernatural powers and went on to dominate the world. Could this be happening to him? Did the goddess of fortune finally smile on him, giving him superhuman abilities?

But something didn't add up. Yang Ming had never had this power before, so why now? He wracked his brain, going over the past few days. Usually, in those stories, the protagonist gained their powers from being struck by lightning, hit by a car, or something bizarre. But nothing out of the ordinary had happened to him lately... or had it?

'Wait... the glasses!'

It hit him—the contact lenses the old man had given him! Yang Ming hadn't experienced this ability until after he put them on. Could they be the source of his newfound power?

To test his theory, Yang Ming quickly took out the lenses.

"Yang Ming, what on earth are you doing? Instead of taking the test, you're fooling around with... something!" Zhao Ying, who had been patrolling the classroom, circled back to find him still not writing and fidgeting with something in his hands.

Startled, Yang Ming almost poked his eye in the process of removing the lenses. He grimaced at Zhao Ying and said, "Miss Zhao, could you please not sneak up on me like that? These are new contact lenses. They're uncomfortable, and I was just trying to adjust them. You nearly made me poke my eye out and transfer to a school for the blind!"

"Pfft!" Zhao Ying couldn't help but chuckle at his exaggerated response. "Stop with the jokes. Finish adjusting them and get back to your test! You've already wasted twenty minutes and haven't written a single word."

"Got it, Miss Zhao," Yang Ming replied.

"Need help with that?" Zhao Ying noticed him struggling and, despite walking away, turned back to offer assistance.

"That would be great!" For some reason, Yang Ming enjoyed having Zhao Ying so close. His heart raced whenever she was near.

Zhao Ying didn't think much of it. In her eyes, Yang Ming was just a student. She stepped forward, gently holding his head with both hands to carefully remove the lenses from his eyes. The faint scent of her perfume enveloped him, sending Yang Ming into a daze.

With the lenses finally removed, Zhao Ying noticed Yang Ming staring at her in a trance. Her face flushed red with embarrassment as she scolded, "What are you staring at? I'm done with your eyes!"

"Huh? Oh, uh, thanks, Miss Zhao!" Yang Ming snapped out of it, feeling a bit foolish.

Zhao Ying put the contact lenses back in their case, handed it to him, and gave him a sharp look before walking away. Despite being a young and inexperienced teacher, she found it awkward to be stared at so intensely by a male student. She felt mortified! She had thought Yang Ming had potential, but now she wasn't so sure.

Without the lenses, no matter how hard Yang Ming tried, he couldn't make out a single word on Zhang Bin's test paper. His eyes grew tired, and the strange zoom function never reappeared. It seemed his guess had been correct—the lenses were the source of this bizarre ability.

Yang Ming examined the contact lens case, turning it over in his hands. It looked ordinary enough, but he was sure now that the lenses were some sort of hidden treasure. With these, he could clearly see things no matter how far away they were. 'Gah, if I ever see that old man again, I owe him a drink!'

Suddenly, Yang Ming smacked his forehead. He almost forgot the task at hand—he was still in the middle of a test! There were only ten minutes left! In a rush, he quickly popped the lenses back in, picked up his pen, and began copying Zhang Bin's answers. Fortunately, the lenses' zoom function worked instantly, allowing him to shift his gaze from Zhang Bin's paper to his own with ease.

Just as the bell rang, Yang Ming finished copying the last answer. He breathed a sigh of relief. These lenses were incredible! Since they were so comfortable, he decided he might as well wear them all the time. After all, they were invisible—no one would notice.

During the next class, Yang Ming continued experimenting with the lenses. He discovered that he could adjust his vision at will, zooming in on objects far away and bringing them into perfect focus. It was as if his eyes had become high-tech cameras, and his brain the auto-focus mechanism.

By the end of the class, Yang Ming had fully mastered the lenses' ability to zoom. Although he couldn't determine exactly how far he could see due to the surrounding buildings, he was able to spot a small, barely noticeable indentation on the far side of the school's sports field.

The realization left him buzzing with excitement. The old man hadn't lied—the lenses really were a high-tech marvel! Could the old man be some kind of reclusive scientist, casually passing off his invention to an unsuspecting teenager like Yang Ming?

Of course, these were just Yang Ming's wild guesses. 'Who cares how they work?' he thought. 'There are plenty of unexplained things in the world—this is just one more.'
