A man, who had managed to slip out of Jay's sight and the scene noticed Jungwon escaping and was quick to pull out his gun and aim at Jungwon's head.
"Bang!" The bullet fortunately couldn't hit Jungwon's head but managed to pierce through his lower abdomen. Unable to bear the pain, Jungwon collapsed to the ground, laying unconsciously.
Just as Jay, the mysterious man thought he had managed to tackle all the goons, he heard the gunshot. He carefully approached the site just to find a pool of blood surrounding Jungwon as he lay there unconscious, and the man who had shot Jungwon, struggling to get up as he was severely wounded too, due to Jay's earlier beating.
Jay was about to approach the man, ready to beat the daylight out of him, but to his horror, the man was quick to realize what was about to happen and managed to run away before Jay could take any action.
Jay understood that chasing the man would be futile as it would be impossible to match the man's rapid pace, who was now nowhere to be seen.
Jay was exhausted and felt weak due to the agony his wounds gave him, which were bleeding profusely. He unlocked the car door, about to take a seat leaving Jungwon unattended, as he didn't feel responsible for him. This is how it worked in the business. Anybody who didn't belong to you and got killed was to be left to bleed to death.
Besides, Jay knew that the boy wasn't going to die as the police would've found him. At least, that's what Jay tried convincing himself. A part of him felt weak as he lay his eyes on Jungwon lying there, pure and innocent- but helpless.
Jay tried to shake this feeling away, knowing that his rational, ruthless decision-making was what had got him this far. People feared him, they knew that their pleas and cries were useless when it came to the Park Empire. They showed no mercy- to get what they wanted.
But the guilt sunk deeper. Just like it did six years ago during the night of Christmas Eve. "Let's get it over with" Jay mumbled under his breath as he got out of the car and paced towards the stranger.
He gently placed Jungwon in the passengers' seat and drove into the woods, someplace where he could treat his wounds.
Jay knew that the decision he was making wasn't right. He was supposed to reach his mansion and was needed for taking care of other matters but here he was, the 'Great Jay' known for his rational decision-making, ditching important work for treating a stranger's wound. It infuriated him how something about Jungwon made him feel responsible for him. Responsible for a guy whom Jay didn't know.
