Hardin POV
I really didn't see the need for all this fuss, one wedding day was enough really.
However, I stood still quietly watching as they bounced round the room to Coldplay and their guests clapped them along. I was just hoping all the fuss would be over by the time breakfast was served, nobody needs this racket whilst eating eggs.
Tessa hadn't stopped smiling since they'd come out. She stood clapping along, swaying side to side with that annoying prick, Robert on the other side of her.
I really didn't see the need for him to be here right now, I highly doubt Landon or Nora would have noticed the difference if he wasn't but I was determined to show Tess I'd changed for her so I kept my mouth shut and my hands to myself. Well, when I could resist not touching Tess.
'Oh they look so lovely.' Karen whined to my side. All this woman does is cry, I swear. I put it down to the pregnancy hormones but that can't really be blamed when Abby is about two now. She'll be voting in the bloody election soon.
Tess and I's wedding will be next, I'll be sure of it. There won't be any of this noisy nonsense there either. Unless that's what Tess wants, of course.
I sighed. Of course Tess will want this.
I'm just glad to be here with her, even if she will be going back to New York with that goddamn waiter soon.
I need to buy her a ring.
'Thanks all for coming, I hope your heads aren't too sore this morning.' Landon laughed into the microphone someone had given him. Ugh. More speeches.
'Can we sit down now?' I whispered to Tessa.
'No, not yet.' She smirked, noticing my impatience.
'My wife and I would just like to say a really big thank you to everybody for coming along to share our special day with us. So much hard work and care has gone into planning this day from so many of you and we're really grateful we had your support.' Landon droned on as I lost focus, fidgeting with the edge of the tablecloth instead.
'I want to give the biggest thank you to my beautiful wife Nora, I'm so glad you came into my life and grateful everyday to share the future with you. We will be leaving after breakfast to travel to Italy for our honeymoon and I'm so excited for the adventures ahead of us.' He gushed.
The honeymoon to Italy was a gift from me. Apparently people normally get slow cookers and towels and shit as presents but them already having an apartment made it a bit tricky.
After wouldn't have happened without my family, and certainly not without Tess so it only felt right to share the wealth the book brought me with them. In another world, I would have spoilt Tessa completely and brought her a whole new life. However, that wasn't an option with her not speaking to me and she probably wouldn't have wanted it anyway. She'd just keep insisting her 15 year old piece of shit car is absolutely fine and she doesn't need a new one.
Landon was taken back by my offer but I knew he wanted to give Nora a proper honeymoon. They were both students in New York whilst planning most of this wedding, trying to make ends meet. I'm sure Ken and Karen probably paid for most of this shit anyway, so it only felt right to cover the honeymoon and let their geeky asses go enjoy the Roman history. Of course, I threatened to kill him if he told anyone about my gift - as usual.
'That was so lovely.' Tess looked to me, smiling. Finally people were starting to sit down.
'We're getting married next.' I promised her quietly as we took our seats. She squealed happily in a way that made her lift her shoulders in excitement.
