Summary: Louis Tomlinson grapples with addiction while desperately trying to maintain a façade of normalcy for his boyfriend, Harry Styles. As the truth unravels through lies, fights, and heartache, both must confront their feelings and seek healing.
The sun had begun to set, casting a warm glow across Harry Styles' living room as he prepared dinner. The aroma of pasta filled the air, and he hummed softly to himself, excited for another evening with Louis. They had been together for two years, and in Harry's eyes, they were the perfect couple.
When the door swung open, Louis walked in, his smile radiant, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Hey, babe!" he called, dropping his bag by the door.
"Hey! You're just in time," Harry replied, glancing back at the stove. "How was your day?"
"Long. You know how it is," Louis said, waving it off as he grabbed a drink from the fridge. Harry noticed the slight tremor in Louis's hands but chose to ignore it.
As they sat down for dinner, the conversation flowed easily, but Harry couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Louis seemed distracted, often lost in thought, and it gnawed at Harry's heart.
Weeks passed, and Harry's concern grew. Louis began to withdraw, canceling plans at the last minute and arriving late. When he was present, he was often irritable and short-tempered.
One night, after Louis returned home later than usual, Harry confronted him. "Where were you?" he asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
"I told you I was working late!" Louis snapped, running a hand through his hair, a habit Harry had come to recognize as a sign of stress.
"Louis, it's always 'working late.' You're never actually home!" Harry's frustration bubbled over. "I just want to know what's going on with you!"
"I'm fine, Harry! Stop making this about you!" Louis shot back, his voice sharp.
Harry felt the sting of Louis's words. "I care about you! But I can't help if you won't let me in!"
The nights grew longer as Louis spiraled deeper into his addiction. He hid it well, masking his struggles with charm and laughter, but Harry began to notice the little things—a slight twitch in his eye, the way he would sometimes zone out mid-conversation, or the pills Louis kept hidden in his nightstand.
Harry tried to convince himself that it was all in his head, that Louis was just stressed. But every time he found Louis sneaking away for "errands," his heart sank.
One evening, Harry found himself waiting for Louis at a bar where they often met. As he sipped his drink, he spotted Louis across the room, laughing too loudly with a group of friends. Harry's heart raced. Something felt wrong.
When Louis finally approached, Harry took a deep breath. "I saw you with those guys. You looked... different."
Louis waved it off, an all-too-familiar smile plastered on his face. "Just having fun! You know how it is."
"Is that what this is?" Harry pressed, his voice low. "Just fun?"
As the weeks dragged on, the tension escalated. Louis's late nights became more frequent, and Harry was left feeling abandoned and betrayed. The lies piled up, and every time he confronted Louis, it turned into a fight.
"Why can't you just be honest with me?" Harry pleaded one night after Louis stumbled in at dawn.
"Because I don't want you to worry!" Louis shouted, his patience wearing thin. "You wouldn't understand!"
"Then make me understand!" Harry begged, feeling desperation claw at his throat.
But Louis only shook his head, anger flaring in his eyes. "There's nothing you can do!"
