Not Leaving

I'd like to mention that this story takes place in 2022 because... I can :)

You woke to the sweet blend of cherry and orange lingering in the air. You were resting on Simon Smoke's broad chest, using it like a pillow, and the rhythmic thumping of his heartbeat soothed you. It was so comforting you could easily fall back to sleep. As you looked up, you noticed Simon's jawline, his face relaxed in deep slumber, his soft snores adding to the rhythm of his heart. His usually styled hair was loose now, cascading over his shoulders in a punk, messy wave, giving him an edgier, more rugged look. His piercings only accentuated his cool appearance.

Realizing you were still naked, a blush rose to your cheeks. Simon was always unclothed, being a dragon and all, but you pulled the blanket tighter around yourself. He shifted in his sleep, turning on his side, instinctively wrapping his strong arms around you like you were a plush toy he refused to let go of. His embrace was firm, protective, and in that moment, it became clear just how much he wanted to shield you from any harm.

"I wouldn't blame him," you thought, recalling the events of last time.

Carefully, you wriggled out of his grasp and stood beside the bed. Simon stirred again, eyes half-lidded with sleep as he mumbled, "Good morning, pretty face," a sleepy smile crossing his lips. Before you could respond, he drifted back to sleep, his breathing steady. "Love you..." he whispered drowsily.

You chuckled softly, leaning down to kiss his forehead. He was so endearing like this. Not wanting to wake him, you decided to explore. Maybe you'd finally see if you could leave. The castle gate creaked open slowly, and a gust of cold wind hit you, making you shiver. Outside was the dark, mystical forest that surrounded the castle-a place that looked like it was taken straight from a child's wild imagination, filled with adventures, dragons, and castles.

You took a tentative step outside, but before you could venture further, a firm hand grabbed your wrist and yanked you back inside.

"What did I say about leaving?" Simon's voice was low, laced with a dangerous edge of anger. A chill of fear crept down your spine, not from the cold, but from the intensity in his eyes.

He slammed the gate shut, locking it with a swift motion. His eyes scanned you up and down. "Why were you trying to leave? Huh?" he asked, his voice firm, demanding. You hesitated, unsure of how to answer. Silence hung heavy between you both.

"Fine," he said with a dismissive wave, his anger slowly fading. "Just... don't do that again. Got it?"

You nodded quickly. Simon's expression softened, and he pulled you into his arms, his lips pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. "Let's get you something to eat, okay? The food I brought you." His tone was gentler now, and you could tell he was trying to ease the tension, likely wanting to protect you, even if he was rough around the edges.

You followed him back to his room, where you sat on the bed as he handed you a variety of sweets and drinks. After settling beside you, Simon clicked his tongue, and a hidden hatch opened, revealing a flat-screen TV that slid out from the wall. It was positioned perfectly at the foot of the bed, and suddenly, the idea of leaving vanished from your mind.

"So, what do you want to watch?" he asked, his tone lighter.

You thought for a moment. "How about The Bad Guys?" you suggested.

Simon grinned and pulled up Netflix, finding the movie. The two of you snuggled up, enjoying the snacks while watching, Simon's warmth wrapping around you like a blanket. As the movie reached its final act, sleepiness crept over you. Simon noticed, pulling you closer as you yawned, his breath warm against your skin. His body heat and gentle presence lulled you into a peaceful slumber.

Simon's POV:

He fell asleep before the movie even finished. I smiled, seeing how adorable he looked all curled up next to me, shivering slightly. I pulled the blanket over him, making sure he was warm. Once the movie ended, I quietly cleaned up the bed, putting the snacks away, then crawled back beside him. I held him close, pressing my face into his soft hair. Damn, he was cute like this-so peaceful, so innocent. I could get used to this. With that thought, my mind drifted, and I fell asleep beside him, holding him tight.
