Cumulus PoV
Annoyed and frustrated she stormed out of the rehearsal room in the ministry, the heavy boots on her feet making her footsteps sound even louder in the hallway. As she stomped down the stairs to the kitchen she muttered under her breath "Why can't they be serious for once?"
Papa left the ministry this morning to run some kind of special errand he didn't want to tell them about.
It took him quite long so he wasn't present for practice and had put Cumulus in charge. Needless to say, it was a mess.

Swiss annoyed everyone with his constant flirting, making Phantom blush and giggle randomly. Rain and Mountain were even more quiet than usual, seemingly communicating only through looks. And Sodo?... Well it was Sodo, he couldn't possibly hide his chaos-gremlin self for the death of him.
As the first 15 minutes of practice had gone by Cumulus had a massive headache and was ready to just call it a day. Consequences be damned.
The only other reasonable member in this room seemed to be Cirrus, her fellow air ghoulette.

Thanks to her she had made it to the end of practice without murdering one of the other ghouls. But that didn't make her less angry. Before she took out her frustration on someone else she decided to go to the kitchen and bake something.
Baking had always been very meditative for her and brownies seemed to be the best way to get rid of the bad mood.

Clattering loudly with the ingredients and bowls she didn't even hear Cirrus walk down the stairs. Only as she cleared her throat to make her presence known Cumulus looked up.
"Oh, hey."
"Hey, I saw you stomping downstairs. Just wanted to make sure you're okay." Cirrus's tone was really concerned.
In the exact moment Cumulus said "Yep, I'm totally okay...", she nearly pushed over the bag of flour.
After catching it and carefully placing it away from her angry hands she took a step back from the kitchen island, turning to Cirrus "Thanks for checking in on me. I'm really okay, just very frustrated after that shitshow of a practice."

Cirrus hummed mindfully.
"You need to shake it off, little cloud. Or better... bake it off." Cirrus laughed at her own joke.
"That was a terrible pun, Cir..." This is what came out of Cumulus's mouth but she couldn't stop the smile creeping on her face.
Cirrus was still giggling "Doesn't matter, it made you smile. I really don't like seeing you all worked up because of their bullshit." Just when Cumulus thought she could finally let it go Cirrus brought it back up so she groaned "Don't remind me, this was such a mess. Let's hope Papa doesn't find out..."

The other air ghoulette only shrugged "He won't, because none of us will rat you out. Swiss and Phantom would have to explain their constant flirting. Rain and Mountain weren't paying attention either, maybe they were flirting too, in their own silent way, I really can't tell what's going on in their heads. And Sodo has probably forgotten about it by now. He's the chaos itself, but he's no snitch."
Cumulus thoughtfully pursed her lips "You're probably right."
"Of course I am. Now let's go and make something delicious, where's the book with the recipes?"

After they put the ingredients together and carefully poured the dough on a baking tray Cumulus sighed as the oven was closed.
"Let's see, 20 minutes should be enough. Now on to the chocolate glaze."
Cirrus sat in front of the oven, watching and waiting for the brownies to finish.
She pulled out the tray after the estimated baking time Cumulus had given and brought it over for the chocolate glaze.
As Cumulus saw the hungry look on her face she couldn't help but laugh "They have to cool down first, but you can have the first piece."

The way Cirrus's face lit up wiped every last bit of dark mood from her mind, leaving only a soft smile and the wish to protect her at all costs.
When they finally sat down to eat Cirrus devoured her first piece of brownie like it was the best thing she'd ever eaten.
"These are soooo good, Cumulus you're a baking goddess!" The other air ghoulette nearly moaned.
The praise went straight to Cumulus's heart, making her cheeks heat and her heart beat faster.

"Open up!" Cirrus suddenly ordered. She had pulled over Cumulus's plate and now the fork with a chocolate glaze-soaked bit of brownie was hovering right in front of her face.
Cumulus couldn't suppress the giggle "Cir, I'm not a kid anymore, I can eat by myself."
The other air ghoulette just vehemently shook her head "You did the baking, I do the feeding. Now open your mouth, the sauce's already dripping on the table."
After another good-hearted eyeroll Cumulus finally took the bite, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She already felt the tension in her shoulders easing, who would've thought that only a small bite of brownie could do such wonders.

"You did so well today." Cirrus's voice sounded very near and as Cumulus reopened her eyes her bandmate had leaned in, their faces only inches apart. "I did?" Why was her voice suddenly so hoarse.
"Mhm, I couldn't have handled it the way you did." Soft, warm fingers brushed a streak of hair behind her ear.
Cumulus suddenly found it hard to breathe. Was this really happening?
When Cirrus's lips landed on hers the spiraling thoughts in her head slowed down. Cumulus sighed into the kiss, closing her eyes again.

Suddenly Cirrus pulled back, a cherry red blush graced her cheeks.
"Sorry, that probably took it too far." Cirrus mumbled, averting her gaze.
"No!" Cumulus's voice sounded too loud and too shrill in her own ears, so she tried again "No, please do it again."
An excited sparkle had entered Cirrus's eyes as she leaned in again, cupping her face with her warm hands and kissing her again.
