Smoke that was the first thing that showed the mission hadn't gone great the coughing over the Comms was the next thing the smoke burning everyone's eyes.
The flames that had already started to spread from room to room the dizzy feeling after inhaling the ash and smoke contaminating the air.
The ringing in your ears the Comms now less coughing and more talking to keep check to make sure the team were getting out of the building.
Ava, Yelena, John, Bucky, Alexi.
Each voice over the Comms panicked and talked over each other to make sure everyone was okay...it was only then you realised you were no longer in the middle of the room the explosion had knocked you back against a wall your head hurt the knock had momentarily made you forget what happened.
The room had been rigged with explosives so when you opened the door the other in front exploded shattering the door.
The memory had made you realise that burning on your side was not the fire but a shard of metal off the hinges of the door from the shape of the metal.
Moving to get up your legs wobbly leaning heavily on the wall.
"Y/n?"
A voice at first sounding far before Ava tired the corner seeing the source of the explosion phasing through the walls following the tracker.
It wasn't until a hand touched your shoulder the voice hadn't been over Comms Ava had rushed back into the building to get you.
"I see you had fun" Ava joked before realising your state.
"Shit y/n hey..."
you turned leaning on her "hi.." you said husky from the smoke and softly as Ava moved to keep you steady leading you out of the building.
"We are going to need medical y/n's hurt" Ava spoke quickly over Comms trying to hide how shaky her voice was as she looked to you.
the look of pure worry on Ava's face the look of slight relief to have found you even though you are injured the difference was clear in her soft sigh of hearing a reply from the team that they were on the way with a medical team however everything felt like so much effort every breath every slight movement.
"Ava..." You said softly "I'm here y/n I'm here..." Ava said back moving to hold your hand squeezing it to keep you aware and awake.
Every moment was a blur, every voice static, every movement felt fast and rushed around you till the dark started to creep into your vision and head till it was silent quiet soft and painless.

The memories rushed back as you opted your eyes on a bed in the medbay in the tower.
Walking to your own heart monitor tired was the first thing then pain dull but there was the iv connected to the cannula in your hand must have some kind of pain medicine in via the drip then pacing outside as voices spoke the team and one of the medical workers informing the team on your condition.
Muffled voices eventually got closer but stopped at the doors and then you felt the familiar shift in the air and looked to the wall to see Ava appear who looked like a mess her hair messy eyes red like she had been crying but she saw you and relief took over her face.
"Y/n..." Ava whispered to the room as she rushed over avoiding your injured side as she hugged you.
"I thought you were gone you idiot I thought I'd lost you...I heard the explosion then found you so broken...you shouldn't have gone off alone I should have been there sooner..." Ava had started to ramble.
"No no don't do that...it's not your fault but it's okay I'm okay I'm here..." You gently moved yourself over without moving your side too much feeling the stitches pull a bit so Ava could join you on the bed which she hesitated before joining you her head moving to your chest to listen to your heartbeat so she could reassure herself that you were truly there and alive.
The nurses had come in to check on Leona but did so quietly while checking the monitors as you and Ava slept on the bed somehow both comfortable to the nurses amazement before she smiled to herself and left you two alone to rest.
