As December rolled in, I noticed a slight improvement in my math skills, all thanks to Johnny. With the tournament on the horizon, I felt no pressure being the second-best in the dojo. I had also successfully tried out for both baseball and soccer, making the teams for each. On top of that, I landed a job at the arcade. My bond with Johnny had deepened; we even started having sleepovers, while my siblings playfully nudged us to date. Still, I wasn't entirely sure if he was into guys.

After school, I headed to the dojo for training. Just before I left, Johnny came up to me. "Hey, can I crash at your place tonight?" he asked. "Of course, that works for me," I replied as we strolled home. It was Friday, so my siblings were off with their partners. Once we got to my house, I decided to bake some cookies and pop popcorn while Johnny enjoyed one of my cigarettes.

After the cookies were done, I joined Johnny on the couch to watch Christmas movies, which he adored, even though I wasn't a big fan of the holiday myself. We snacked on cookies and popcorn, and soon I felt my eyelids getting heavy. I must have dozed off because when I woke up, my siblings were teasing, "Oooh, Johnny and Theo are in love." Johnny just smiled at their teasing.

I rubbed my eyes and realized I had fallen asleep on Johnny. "Oh no, I'm so sorry!" I said. "No worries. If you're tired, we can head to your room," he replied. We went upstairs, and I changed into my pajamas while Johnny lay down on the bed. As I sat up, he leaned in and kissed me. "I really like you, Theo, more than just a friend. It's okay if you don't feel the same," he admitted. I kissed him back, smiling as I said, "I like you too, Johnny." I then rested my head on his chest, and we both drifted off to sleep, the sounds of my siblings echoing from downstairs.
