The breeze tousled my hair as I leaned back on the bench, savoring the rare, perfect mix of warmth and wind. It was one of those days where everything felt light. That is, until Jungkook decided to ruin it."Stuck in a room with Jennie is worse than hell," I joked, shaking my head as my friends snickered around me. "She never stops talking, man. My ears were bleeding last time from her high-pitched rambling."
"High-pitched rambling? That's rich coming from you," Jungkook shot back, raising an eyebrow.
"Whatever," I muttered, waving him off.
"I don't mind if she's screaming my name," he said suddenly, wiggling his eyebrows like the clown he was.
The group fell silent for a split second before collectively groaning.
"Bro, what?" I blurted, glaring at him like he'd just committed a felony.
"I'm just saying," Jungkook grinned, completely unbothered. "She's hot."
"Hell no, I'm out," I said, immediately standing up, hands raised like I was surrendering to the universe. "I don't want to hear this. This conversation is over."
Hearing Jungkook admit he liked Jennie felt like someone had punched me in the gut and handed me a bucket of spoiled milk. Not because I hated her—no, it was worse. Jungkook dating Jennie? That meant me being dragged into their weird little love bubble because Jennie was my step-sister. And there was no way I was signing up for that.
"Oh, come on," Jungkook said, quickly catching up to me. "Y/n, introduce me to her. I really, really want to meet her."
I stopped dead in my tracks, turning to give him the most disgusted look I could muster. "No. Absolutely not. Hard pass. Keep walking, dude."
"But why not?" Jungkook whined, practically clinging to my shoulder now. "You're her step-sister. You could make it happen. Wingman me."
"First of all," I said, shrugging his arm off my shoulder, "I am not your wingman. Second, the idea of you and Jennie—ugh!" I shuddered dramatically. "I'd rather eat a shoe."
"Your shoe or someone else's?" Jungkook smirked.
"Why does that matter?" I groaned. "Point is, no way in hell."
"You're such a buzzkill." Jungkook rolled his eyes but then perked up. "Okay, fine. Let's go to your place, then. You're heading home, right? I'll just casually bump into her or something."
"No," I said flatly, already regretting this entire day.
"C'mon, Y/n!" He was practically skipping now, his enthusiasm making me want to throw myself into traffic. "I'll bring snacks. Drinks. Whatever. I'm great with parents, too. I'll charm the socks off your mom."
"First of all, stop talking about socks. Second, you're not coming to my place, Jungkook."
"But why not?"
"Because I live there, and I value my peace and sanity," I snapped.
"You're so dramatic."
"Yeah, and you're exhausting. Go bother someone else."
"Y/n!"
"Nope. Not happening."
Jungkook sighed but didn't give up, of course. He never did. "Okay, but just imagine it: me and Jennie. Power couple. You could be the fun, quirky sibling who helps us get together—like in a rom-com!"
"Yeah, no thanks. I'm not signing up for a sequel to 'Hell on Earth.' Find someone else to be your Cupid."
With that, I picked up my pace, leaving Jungkook behind—for now, at least. Knowing him, he wasn't about to let this go anytime soon.
