Jisoo stood frozen in the doorway, her eyes taking in the scene before her. She forced herself to breathe, deeply and deliberately, willing herself not to break. Without a word, she moved purposefully toward the staircase, her gaze fixed ahead, carefully ignoring the presence of her husband and brother.

Taehyung and Jeongguk hurriedly scrambled, grabbing at scattered clothes. Taehyung’s heart pounded, dread and shame twisting through him as he realized the full gravity of what had happened. He knew, in this terrible moment, that he was at the edge of losing everything. His voice came out hoarse, barely a whisper as he called out to her. “Soo…”

Jisoo paused at the base of the stairs, not turning to look at him. Her voice, calm yet painfully pointed, cut through the room like ice. “You’ll catch a cold. Maybe you two should head to the guest room,” she said, emphasizing “guest” in a way that left no question as to her meaning. Then, without another word, she turned and climbed the stairs, walking purposefully toward the bedroom she shared with Taehyung.

The door closed behind her with a quiet click, but for Taehyung, it was the sound of a world collapsing. He fell to his knees, his hands gripping his hair, the reality of his actions crashing down on him. Tears streamed down his face as the hopelessness of the situation took hold, wracking him with deep, guttural sobs. This was it—the end of his love, his marriage. He’d shattered the life he’d built with Jisoo, the one person he had sworn to honor and cherish.

Jeongguk, meanwhile, stood in silent contemplation. His expression was oddly calm, calculating as he watched Jisoo walk away. She hadn’t yelled, hadn’t lashed out, and that unsettled him more than any outburst would have. He knew his sister well enough to understand that silence from her was a warning, a sign that she was considering something significant. If she discovered the full extent of his manipulation, the way he had methodically driven a wedge between her and Taehyung, she wouldn’t forgive him.

He reached down, placing a firm hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. “Come on,” he murmured, pulling Taehyung to his feet. With a gentle but unyielding grip, he led him to the guest room. It had become Jeongguk’s space in the house—a place he stayed whenever he visited, and in recent months, it had almost felt like his own bedroom. He guided Taehyung to the bed, lowering him onto it and gently wiping the tears from his face.

Jeongguk lay down beside him, wrapping his arms around Taehyung, attempting to calm the shaking man in his arms. But Taehyung’s grief was too deep, his heartbreak too raw. Jeongguk held him, feeling the helplessness of the moment settle over him, a bitter reminder that he had brought this turmoil into their lives.

Unable to sit idly, Jeongguk picked up his phone, his fingers moving swiftly as he dialed Soobin’s number. When Soobin answered, Jeongguk’s voice was low, urgent. “I need you to find out what happened at the office today,” he said. “And figure out how much Jisoo knows about the situation.” He ended the call, a faint satisfaction tugging at the edges of his mind. Jisoo was a formidable opponent, but he had to act swiftly. He couldn’t afford to lose her trust entirely—not yet. He had to find a way to remain in her good graces, at least on the surface.

The night stretched on, heavy with a suffocating silence. Taehyung’s sobs eventually quieted, but he lay there, broken, his mind reeling with the consequences of his choices. He hadn’t spoken a word to Jeongguk, who kept a steady embrace around him, but Taehyung’s heart was far away, lost somewhere between regret and despair.

Upstairs, behind a locked door, Jisoo allowed herself to unravel. Her tears came slowly at first, a quiet, steady stream that betrayed the agony she felt within. The love, the trust, and the dreams she had built with Taehyung felt like illusions, shattered by the brutal reality she had walked in on. She pressed a hand to her mouth to muffle the sobs that eventually overtook her, surrendering to the heartbreak that threatened to consume her.

Neither Jisoo nor Taehyung slept that night. Each was lost in their own world of pain and betrayal, while Jeongguk lay awake as well, his thoughts already calculating his next move, even as he tightened his hold on Taehyung.

But somewhere in the depths of the night, a new determination stirred within Jisoo. She knew she would have to confront this—face both of them. And when morning came, she would be ready.
