It has been two weeks since the strange and unexpected encounter with Andrew happened. Needless to say, I've stopped going to AK Café to avoid meeting the man again, much to my annoyance because I happen to love that place. Well, at least I still have the mug—the one I stole and don't intend to return to its owner any time soon.
Hansel got suspicious when he noticed I wasn't leaving the apartment except to go grocery shopping—I can't live without my Kit Kats and the daily dose of caffeine. He questioned me if there was something wrong, but I told him I was trying to stay put in my bedroom so I could get my shit together and write the stupid romance I was supposed to.
I am, indeed, spending most of my time staring at my laptop and thinking about possible plots to throw at Amanda and whoever she will date, but I can't get past the first paragraph.
"Emily?" A knock on my bedroom's door, followed by Hansel's voice, echoes through the room.
"What?" I yell in response without looking up from my laptop or leaving my bed's comfort.
"I brought you hot coffee from AK Café," Hansel replies.
I flinch at the mention of the name AK Café. However, the need for my daily dose of caffeine is practically unbearable, considering it's eleven a.m. and I haven't had coffee yet. So next thing I know, I am opening the door, being greeted by Hansel's lopsided smile and a takeaway coffee cup in his hands.
"Good morning, Mily," he says while handing me the cup, which I accept eagerly.
"Thank you, Hans." I shoot him a thankful smile before bringing the drink to my lips.
"So?" He steps into my bedroom without asking for permission.
"So what?" I frown as I watch him glance at my laptop on the bed.
"How is Love and Shit working so far?" He walks to the window and sticks his head outside, taking a deep, appreciative breath. He is one of those people who are super excited to be alive and enjoy every single second of their lives, even when everything is going downhill.
"It's not," I huff, taking another sip of my drink. Gosh, I've missed AK Café's coffee. Stupid Andrew, who has ruined my everyday routine. He could have become the owner of a footwear chain, but no.
"Have you chosen a boyfriend for Amanda yet?" he insists, casting me a glance before sticking his head out the window again like a freaking dog.
"Nope. I don't know what to write about, and... Wait a minute. How do you know that my main character's name is Amanda?" I realize I haven't mentioned Amanda to anyone but Andrew.
Hansel turns to face me, his lips curling into a lopsided smile.
"Oh, no," I mumble, my eyes widening.
My roommate nods, confirming my unspoken words. "Oh, yes. Guess whom I met today at AK Café?"
I let out a deep sigh and slump my shoulders in defeat. Why bother hiding the truth from Hansel for two weeks? He would eventually find out about Andrew, and I could have left my cavern, aka bedroom, sooner.
"Why didn't you tell me that Andrew is living in our building and is the owner of AK Café?" Hansel takes a step closer to me, but he doesn't dare to touch me because he knows how my mood grows volatile whenever we talk about Andrew Keegan.
"I don't know," I reply dryly, shrugging.
"I'm not attracted to men, but I must admit that Andrew is even more good-looking now than in high school," my roommate smirks.
