Warning: Cursing

Dalim

It was eight in the morning when I woke up. Ron was asleep still. I go to get up, his arms tighten around me, and he groans in protest. So, I lay there, stuck and awake. I had to admit, I'm not and never will be a morning person. I look at him as he's happily asleep and silently cuss him out. Draco walked in with Enzo, Blaise and Matteo.

I roll my eyes. They all give each other a look. Before Enzo starts to snicker. I raise my arm that isn't trapped under Ron, and I flip him off. Blaise comes to my side of the bed and whispers, at least he cares about not waking Ron. I was talking to Blaise when Draco yelled in Ron's ear, immediately waking him up. Ron grabs his wand out of reflex before realizing who it was. I sit up.

I was fine with Draco doing that to me, but one hundred percent not Ron. "What the actual fuck do you think you're doing?!" Draco scoffs while Ron glares at him.

"It was a joke, Ronald. Don't act like you've never done it before." I get out of bed, grab Draco's ear and drag him out of my dorm.  "Ow! Ow! Let go! Ow!"

I finally let go when we get into the hall. People were walking in the common room, just chatting. "Why are you being a dick to Ron?!" I whisper yell. His hand is on his ear. "He's not right for you. What would mother and father say? Hm?" I roll my eyes. I had thought about it. And it never mattered to me.

"I don't and never will care about what they think about my relationships." He gives me a smug look. "Then let's see what you think later tonight when I tell them about your newfound romance." I wanted to slap him. I shrug instead, trying to keep my cool. "Fine. See if I care."

He scoffs. "Fine. Infact, I'll tell them as soon as they get here." He was trying to break me. To see if I would beg him not to. But I wasn't going to. He could do what he wanted. It wouldn't change anything for me. What are they going to do? Nothing. They (my father) would scream at me, telling me it was just unacceptable for a nice Malfoy girl like me to date a dirty, poor Weasley like him. Nothing I couldn't take from them.

"Do it." His smirk didn't falter. He knew what he was doing. Tattling to mommy and daddy to get praise so he could fill the hole of them not loving us like they used to. It was going to get him killed one day.

LATER

It was ten in the morning now. I was packing the painting carefully into a box. I was still going to give it to them. I certainly didn't want to keep it. I met Draco downstairs and outside in the courtyard. When I finally got there, my parents were talking with Draco. They were different from the other parents there. They weren't smiling or talking excitedly with their children. They looked bored, unamused, normal for Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. They show no emotion. It was like living with stone. Angry, hard stone.

My mother turns to me, her hair in her normal bun and dark clothing covering her body. She went to speak before my father cut her off. "Dalim, it is so nice of you to finally join us." I try not to say anything snarky. So, I bite my tongue and put on a small fake smile. "Sorry I was running a bit late. I was just packing up the present for you and mother."

His brow raised at the word present. "Oh, how... kind." He never liked things that weren't completely expensive and hard to find. So, of course he wasn't pleased when he saw the basic brown paper around the thing that took me hours to make.

"I'm sure it's lovely, Dalim." My mother is the kinder one of the two. I could never understand ow a man like him got such a nice woman like her. She wasn't always so nice; she could be mean just like everyone else. It was just rarer.

"That's not all though, is it, Dalim?" Draco was being like father today. He always did that on Parents Day. "Really?" My father's brow raised as my stupid brother spoke.

"It's nothing, father. I have work to do, I will see you all tonight." Draco grabbed my arm and put me back in my spot. "But I haven't told them the good news!" I glare at him.

"Well go on, Draco. We don't have all day to stand here and play the waiting game." I take a breath in, not knowing if it might be my last after what he's going to say.

"Dalim is dating a Weasley. Ronald." Fire ignites in my father's eyes. My mother looks shocked. He turns to me and for a second, I can't breathe out of fear. I had only ever seen him like that one time before.

Draco and I were only five. We were playing hide and seek, stupidly I hid in my father's office. He found me before Draco even finished counting. He grabbed me by the arm and hit me with his cane. It had broken the skin; I still had the scar.

Before I could step back, his cane got my arm, and he started dragging me into the school where no one was. "Father stop! Let go! I'm sorry!" He brings his hand up and it strikes me across the cheek. I gasp, tears welling in my eyes. "Don't you ever disrespect the Malfoy name you ungrateful bitch!" His cane finally let go. I looked at him, tears running down my cheeks. I back up slowly then take off running as fast as I could.

I decided that that day would be the last day I was ever a Malfoy by name.
