(author's note)
I'm well aware that canonically Hange goes by they/them pronouns, however for this story to work, I used she/her. This is a non-canon story and probably will not include any other characters from AOT apart from the six + Hange, unless I change my mind later.

Also, English is not my first language, so bear with me.

Enjoy! 💜

Deciding to spend the spring break at your aunt Hange's beach house was a great idea. Inviting six of your closest friends though, was an even better one. The university has been knocking you down like nothing else and you have never felt lower. However, suffering in silence is what you do best. But in the midst of all the desperation, there's a glimmer of hope. Hope to spend the next two weeks with the people you hold the dearest.

As you are all gathering around in the parking lot next to your university's campus, standing beside two, next to each other parked cars that will serve as the getaway vehicles from something that has been weighing you down for a few months now.

Sasha and Connie are bickering about something that sounds like who called shotgun first.

"Damnit Sasha," Connie lets out a desperate cry, "you do this every time."

Sasha laughs full-heartedly, "So you should already be used to it."

"There should be a fucking rule on how early you can call shotgun." Connie grunts.

You look at them as they keep arguing, a little smile escapes your lips as you keep waiting for Jean to arrive. Eren is already loading up his car with suitcases and supplies.

"Is that asshole bailing on us again?" a deep, harsh voice coming from your left, undeniably and familiarly Eren's, makes you turn your sight away from Sasha and Connie.

"He'll be here. You know how much time he spends to make sure everything is perfect.", Armin replies in a voice that is completely opposite to Eren's. It's soft and kind, as if it doesn't know cruelty or anger.

"He's probably going through his checklist for the hundredth time." Mikasa adds, helping Eren with bags.

As you listen to your friends talk, you can't shake the feeling that Jean might actually bail and that would leave you not only with a driver short but also a friend, you hoped to spend time with, short. You take your phone out and find Jean's contact. The line beeps a few times, before he picks up.

"Y/n?" his voice focused, deep and unreadable.

"Jean, good... you're alive. That doesn't explain why you're not here yet, though. We're all waiting on you." you talk into the phone.

"Right... I'll be right there." his voice turns a little more urgent.

"Good. Good. We were already thinking that you've bailed on us again." you calmly say.

"Five minutes." he confirms and hangs up the phone.

You toss your phone back into your bag, relieved that he's actually coming and not chickening out on the trip.
