December 24th, 2011, Switzerland - St. Moritz, 2355 hrs.

Christmas Eve hung in the air like a shimmering promise, snowflakes dancing gracefully outside the window, blanketing the world in a hushed white embrace.

"Elysia..." a voice broke the stillness, drawing her attention.

His grin widened, warmth radiating from his cheetah-like eyes, fixed on the sleepy girl beside him. He couldn't help but repeat her name, the syllables rolling off his tongue like a sweet addiction.

"Ki..." she yawned, her gaze drifting away from the enchanting scene outside.

"We have five minutes left till Christmas," The six-year-old boy nods in agreement, the excitement barely contained, his grin still plastered on his face, "What do you dream for?"

He intertwined their hands, a moment of connection that felt like magic, "I dream that we achieve our dreams of being top performers together, and I pray to God that we're always together... I don't want to let go of you."

The five-year-old girl blushed, a delightful giggle escaping her lips.

"Oh Ki," she laughed harder, her innocence shinning through, "I pray that too! That we're always together forever, even in our alternative lives! And in our other life too!"

It's only a month. One month... and then everything will be back to normal. Mummy and Daddy said so. It's just a month without contact, nothing more. Elysia repeats in her mind.

"Please send this to Ki, Mummy. He must know that I will be gone for only one month." Elysia's voice trembled slightly as she handed the letter to her mother, she didn't want to break her promise to her best friend, hope glimmering in her young eyes.

The woman knelt, her tears threatening to spill as she nodded.

"Of course, my princess. Ki will receive this..." she promised, though guilt gnawed at her heart as she uttered the practiced lie.

"Bye, Mummy! Bye, Daddy!" Elysia jumps in the car. She rolled down the window and waved until her parents disappeared from view.

One month. It's only one month, she repeated in her head, clinging to the belief like a lifeline.

"Let me go!" Elysia cried, wailing as she struggled against the harsh grip of the headmistress, her tingy frame trembling with dear.

"I want to go home!"

"You will stop this nonsense Miss. Chernova!" he barked, his voice cold and authoritative.

"Let me go!" she screamed, managing to kick the headmistress before making a frantic dash, only to be caught by the guards.

"Let me go! I want to go home!" Her voice cracked, raspy from her cries and desperate demands.

The headmistress stepped in front of her, and in a swift, brutal motion, he slapped Elysia, leaving her stunned and silent, shock rippling through her small body.

"You will do no such thing, Blaire - !"

"My name's not Blaire! Stop calling me -!" she protested, her heart pounding with confusion and fear.

Another slap silenced her, the stinging pain a harsh reminder of her reality.

"I will not tolerate any more tantrums, Blaire Chernova! Take her to her room!"

I'm not Blaire... that not my name. It's been a month...She cried feet kicking the guards in hopes she's strong enough for them to be hurt. Please let me go home! My name's Elysia Vasiliev! she cried silently, the weight of her new identity pressing down on her.
